Thanjk you.

quality wide players are quite rare and most are very expensive. you could get decent forwards for less.
we have torres, kuyt and ngog. then we have options in babel, nemeth, pacheco and that new guy jovanovic?
im just not a fan of a lone front man unless you have good wide players. if we had someone as good as arda turan then maxi/kuyt on the otherside that might work
if we sell riera and benayoun and use that money to buy turan, then use the money from voronin+dossena+el zhar+degen we could get an ok back up striker for torres for like 11 mil... then we need to find money for left back
If you've got £20m to spend on a striker you should be able to sign one who is capable of forming a successful partnership with Torres. So either he was a bad signing in the first place or Rafa didn't give him enough game time alongside Torres. Or maybe Rafa wasn't able to adapt his system to play 2 strikers successfully.
Either way it was a massive ****ing waste of £20m and we marginally missed out on the title. And we all know what happened this season (Ngog)
Mattshark- Chelsea played 2 upfront alot this season.
Barcelona played 3 strikers and id say thats alot better than 1.
Real Madrid played Ronaldo and Higuain together upfront as a duo
I bet if Berbatov was any good then fergie would not have been forced to play Rooney alone
Keane should of been able to form a good partnership with Torres but nobody could of predicted he would of played so poorly for us as he did.
Keane didn't play too much with Torres but that was because Torres was injured for most of the time Keane played for us.
Chelsea never play 2 upfront they either have Anelka drop off Drogba or Anelka goes wide but i have not seen them play as out and out forwards together.
Barca play one directly upfront and 2 advanced wide players in Messi & Pedro, or Messi & Henry or Messi & Iniesta (Iniesta is not a forward) but they never have 3 players directly upfront.
Real mainly had Higuain or Benzema play upfront with support from Ronaldo and Kaka. Just because they had licence to get into forward positions doesn't mean they played as out and out forwards.
i think chelsea started the season with a 4-4-2 diamond with anelka and drogba playing out and out strikers till he changed this around when the formation started to get worked out
Torres up top partnering Kuyt and Babel, who can rotate the second striker position.
We have two decent strikers, they've been played out of position for too long. If our striker list was Torres, Kuyt, Babel, N'gog and we played a 4-4-2, I wouldn't feel bad about that at all.
Then we could have Mascher and Aquilani in the middle of the park; Lucas to come on to relieve either of them.
I think that is a really good side. I know I know, Stevie on the right, but I think Aquilani offers a lot going box to box and Stevie can come inside and float at will, with Glen Johnson behind him to protect him.
Add in a new, class LB and maybe another striker after Jovanovic, who seems nailed on. Without funny money to go buy insanely priced mega stars, this is a very good team, I think.

Thing is SG, Mash, Torres, Babel and Turan will not be here...

We'll see... For me, I don't know how you can phone in a season as Gerrard did or spend half the season injured on the bench as Torres did and then complain about the performance of the team. I know careers don't last forever, but man up in the face of a challenge and play for the supporters who ultimately pay your wages. If we can unite the players and the fans behind the purpose of restoring the club to greatness, ownership be damned, there is no reason we can't get it done.
That said, it's going to be a long World Cup.

I have to say I agree with all of the above, some of the things I would like to see is, if the first half has gone badly the ability to come out in the second half all guns blazing. I think our heads tended to drop too quickly when we fell behind. Also adjust our tactics accordingly, a plan B would be useful oh and a little off the ball movement. We just looked so rigid last season. I for the life in me couldn't figure out what our game plan was.
