I have this fear deep down inside that the club will implode this season and that we will be fighting relegation. The club want to bring in hodgson to take over from rafa because roy is a yes man and will do whatever the board want him to do without putting up a fight. Whereas Kenny wouldnt allow them to sell gerrard and co without a fight.

If they decide to sell torres, gerrard, mascherano, kuyt, benayoun and johnson then I dont believe that any of that money will be given back to a manager who is potentially there for only one season. I genuinely believe that this season will see the debt reduced and the playing staff cut leaving our team a shadow of what it was in the previous ones.

We will lose at least 5 - 6 maybe more first team starters for a combined fee of £150m and we wont be making any decent signings. i also believe that the owners never had any intention of building the stadium, and the sole purpose of buying LFC was that they were being offered a really good opportunity at a very good price and they took it with the intention of 'flipping' us to anyone who would pay the increased valuation.

The money that we get from selling players in will go to pay off the owners' debt and they will have their money back leaving our bank loan to RBS as the only debt on the club.

The sole aim for this season has to be retaining our premiership status and nothing more.
    I thought I was pessimistic.

I think it depends on how many of our best players leave and what proportion of the fees received is given to the new manager (as well of course as the success of his signings). I think it's likely Mascherano, Gerrard and Torres will leave as well as less important players (Benayoun for example). If that's all and the new manager can get half-decent replacements then I think 5th-8th is possible.

If others, like Reina or Johnson, see what's happening and decide they want out then meltdown becomes more plausible and a mid-table finish would be a relief.
    .
Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

May the Lord bless this post.

if torres, gerrard, masher, benayoun, riera and say johnson leave that will bring in well over £120m and i cant see us giving an 'interim' manager even half of that to spend on players.

It just wouldnt make sense. he might only be there for 6 months so whats the point of letting him make such integral changes.

How did people suddenly come to the general consensus that Woy is some kind of "Yes man"?

Everyone seems to spout it as fact, but is there really evidence to back it up other than him seeming like a nice, affable chap?

I think Rafa said we needed a least 3-4 top players. If Mascherano leaves that would mean we'd need 4 or 5. Although we definately need a good striker and I've said all season that our main problem area were the wide positions (kuyt and benny)and side backs, the 3 players I most want to see in Liverpool next season are all sentral players: Ozil from Bremen, Martinez from Bilbao and Yaya Toure.
(None of this can happen under our current owners though)
Ozil is pure quality, cheap, and would be excellent playing behind Torres.
Toure would be very important due to the fact that he can play both DM and central defender.
Martinez is a very very good young player
All or any of them would add a much needed physical presence to our side.
Of course there might be the issue of were to play Gerrard, but I think it would be easy, he could play behind ozil or he could play at the right (a vast improvement over Kuyt)
That would leave us with 5 (Lucas being backup) players competing for 3 places (assuming we play 4-2-3-1 which currently is the most common formation amongst top teams ) 2 of those 5, gerrard and Toure would be equally as effective playing in other positions. That's a good set up.
(of course I don't really think this will actually happen, but Ozil at least should be a serious possibility)

I'd like to see Kelly being given a fair share of playing time at right back as I've been really impressed by what I've seen from him so far.

Silva or Mata would be excellent for our left side, but as much as I despise Riera for his behaviour over the last season I think he's a really good and potentially important player for us. He might just be given a new chance under a new manager. (I really don't know anythin about this Turan)

A replacement for Aurelio will be needed, but not necessarily a player to replace Insua in the first eleven. (He's far from perfect, but he's got talent)

A new quality striker is important but I'm not really sure who'd fit the bill.. I'd prefer a striker with different and complementary attributes to Torres, giving us more options to change our game plan when needed. (Crouch?)
Forlan would be excellent but at 31 the £20m or so asking price is just to much. The dream would be Aguero. But I think no matter who we get, it needs to be an established, proven player. Someone who can carry a team, not be carried by it like Ngog

Other changes to our squad I'd very much welcome is if we get rid of the totally useless Babel.

Ozil cheap? Yes but 2 and half years ago. Werder would not let him for less than £20m or more. Some nice suggestions (e.g. Silva, Aguero, Yaya and/or Martinez) but even Real would have tough time finding budget for all those players...

Ozil WILL be cheap, probably under £10m as his contract expires in 2011.
Oh and BTW Joe Cole would be as good as any of the above on our left side, but I sort of get the feeling that his transfer to Arsenal is a done deal... Shame..

                            1) bringing in Simon Kjaer to partner skrtel
                            2) moving agger to LB
                            3) bringing in Turan on the LW
