The King was incredible and will always be my personal favourite. The fact he was also player manager when he won the double too - that goal against Chelsea to win the title that year was top drawer

are you mentally ill?Originally posted by Fernandinho View PostWhile we are at it, seeing as I have absolutely no idea what kind of player Kenny was, infact I wouldn't even know what position he played (must be some kind of criminal act), tell me about Kenny. Everything you know! Vids are much appreciated
Cheers guys!

Followed LFC since the mid 60s when a scouser moved to the secondary school I was at in South Wales.Originally posted by Icon View Post**** - that makes me kinda retarded too...
Followed from afar till mid 70s when I moved to the NW. Saw Dalglish era and he was a fantastic footballer, he wasn't fast but just seemed to drift to the right place. Also remember he did have a big arse and was strong, people seemed to bounce off him.
But I find it difficult to remember the details, all a bit foggy now which is probably a function of age.
The club has had a number of fantastic players and while Dalglish has to be in the top set (probably those already mentioned) it's hard for me to call one out.
What I would say though is I would have liked to see Gerrard in a team as good as some of the one's we've had in the past. It's a shame he's never really had enough good players around him

Used to have his back to goal, would receive the ball and would stick his large arse out as he shielded it (the ballOriginally posted by Fernandinho View PostI seem to keep hearing that, I just can't understand how that works
). Defenders would just bounce off it and be unable to challenge him. He would then turn and either get a shot in or play an exquisite through ball for the legend that is Ian Rush.

Dalglish is the best British player I've seen
Most complete
The game has moved on and is far more athletic today but there are still players capable of playing the game without being over-reliant on athleticism
Take Berbatov yesterday, Dalglish was capable of all that and more. He was quite lethal with his back to goal, he had an incredibly low center of gravity that gave him supreme balance made it nigh on impossible to knock him off the ball and his "fat arse" made it difficult for defenders to go round him and try and get the ball
He had excellent vision and could read a game like no-one else I've ever seen since
Gerrard is a fantastic player and I would probably say hes the second best player I've seen in an LFC shirt and people will argue that Gerrard has not had the fortune of playing alongside great players like Dalglish did (and thats a fair point) but to me Dalglish made a lot of good players, great players! He raised everybody elses game by making their life so easy
In short if I had the choice of ANY British player I'd take KennyBob Paisley - "This club has been my life. I'd go out and sweep the street and be proud to do it for Liverpool if they asked me to."

Fernandinho, there's a brilliant box set DVD about 3 legends: Shankly, Paisley & Dalglish
Get a hold of that if you can, it's inspired. It will make you question whether we're the same club now unfortunately, but it's just an absolute pleasure to remember what we were
Kenny's absolute pomp was also slightly before my time, I just about remember Fagan being in charge but I remember Kenny taking over and those some 5 years following when we were incredible. Just absolutely incredible. He wasn't playing as much then of course, being about 35, but still scored and had that old magic about him. His last competitive appearance for Liverpool as a player was at 40
Thing is, he did everything perfectly, with the possible exception of what happened immediately after he left. The way he played, the way he led, his personality on and off the pitch, his management, the way he dealt with both Heysel and Hillsborough, the way he blooded new exciting players despite still being able to play at that level, the actual players he brought in - Beardesly, Barnes and Houghton in one season! Jesus, what we could do with just one of thoseI saw a dead fish on the pavement and thought "what did you expect?"
There's no water round here stupid, should have stayed where it was wet

He was f*cking brilliant.
I think it was Alvin Martin who said Dalglish was the most difficult player he ever played against (and, let's be honest, we're talking about Alvin Martin here - the list of difficult opponents is encyclopaedic in range). He said it wasn't because you never knew what he was going to do next - on the contrary, you always knew what he was going to do but he went ahead and did it anyway.
