I agree with SB , not saying we should actually do it but there's definitely some logic to him getting another 60 minutes and hopefully finding his form again like he did with his hat-trick against Reading in his first season.

I'm honoured of course but worried all the same
Me, I’m either planning a holiday or I’m on one.

Is this just your guess then or is Emilsson going to play ? Have to say I'd love it but it's highly doubtful IMO.

Someone on RAWK claiming Suso, Ince and Sterling will all be involved.

I would love a 4-2-3-1 with those boys in the attacking 3, but start with dani and bring suso on later.

I think the United game showed some good signs for Torres. His runs were much more intelligent and he seemed a bit faster than was the case in previous games.

I think Ngog deserves to play - he is really competing for one place with Torres and no matter what I think Torres will remain first choice.

Brave but I think it is a promising sign.

I think the best performers deserve a chance just to show that if you play well you will get some game time as a reward. Suso, Ince and Sterling are nowheer near ready for the first team but they deserve the experience if they have been producing the goods. 15-20 minutes on the pitch or even 5 minutes for Stirling would be fantastic for him.

And any youngster looking at joining a club will sit up and take notice of this.

I honestly don't think Torres needs a confidence boost at all tbh.

He's off the back off an injury plagued 6 months and is in need of match sharpness, nothing more, nothing less.
                      - You could say well then play him in every game but we've plenty of matches coming up and he'll play in most of them.

All this talk of Torres being basically finished is just ridiculous - give him service and he'll still **** goals or at least cause havoc as we saw on Sunday - barely involved in the match then all of a sudden he wins us a penalty and a free-kick on the edge of the area (that should have resulted in an O'Shea Red Card) - defenders still **** a brick whenever he's on the pitch.

He'll be knocking the goals for us very soon - with Meireles, Gerrard and Cole on the pitch i'm sure we'll creates loads of chances for him.

Danny Wilson is hoping the Carling Cup will provide him with the springboard to launch his Liverpool career.

The former Rangers defender could be in line to make his Liverpool debut against Northampton Town in the Carling Cup third round on Wednesday night, and if selected, he can't wait to turn out in a red shirt at Anfield for the first time.

"To start a game for the first time would be special and I just hope the manager thinks I am ready," Wilson told Liverpoolfc.tv.

"If not I will work even harder to try and make it happen.

"I was an unused substitute against Rabotnicki in our first home game of the season and the crowd were buzzing and there was a great atmosphere, so to play for the first time is something I am really looking forward to.

"I had never been to Anfield before that and I really enjoyed being part of it. It was good to see how the crowd reacts and get behind the team."

The League Cup brings back good and bad memories for the Reds No.22. He made his debut in the Scottish equivalent competition last season and played his part as Rangers reached the final.

Wilson started the big game at Hampden Park but was sent-off as Walter Smith's side went on to win 1-0.

"It brings back mixed memories for me because I was sent-off in the final but at least we went on to win it 1-0, so that's what really mattered on the day," he added.

"I made my debut in this competition and I went on to make more appearances for the first team. It was because of that first game the manager trusted me, and hopefully if I could play and do well on Wednesday night then a similar thing might happen for me at Liverpool.

"I went on to make my league debut and then play in the Champions League for Rangers. Had I not played in the League Cup then I wouldn't have had those opportunities, so it was a really good springboard for me.

"If selected on Wednesday then I will do everything I can to help the team and play well, but I just need to take it one step at a time.

"If the manager thinks I'm ready to play then that's great and I will try and show him what I can do."

Wilson is also hoping for similar fortunes that he experienced with Rangers last season.

That would mean helping Liverpool go all the way to the final at Wembley, but before all that is possible the centre-back insists the Reds will show maximum respect to Northampton Town.

"That would be fantastic to get to Wembley," he added.

"We have just got to take it one step at a time. There are no easy ties as cup football is a one off.

"Sometimes it's tough playing against a team from a lower league because this is their cup final and they are out to impress, and you know they will put everything into the game.

"We won't take our foot off the gas as we know complacency can sometimes kick in."

The Cobblers showed terrific fighting spirit in the second round when they overcame all the odds to beat Reading at the Madejski Stadium. They scored a last-minute equaliser in extra-time and beat the Royals 4-2 on penalties.

"That shows you they have got great character in the team to keep going right to the end and we'll have to guard against that.

"For any player Anfield is a massive stage to play at no matter whether you play a League Two side or one from the Champions League.

"They will be up for it and we have to make sure we play well and win the game."

Another young starlet who could also make his debut against Northampton is Jonjo Shelvey.

The England U19 captain arrived at the club at a similar time to Wilson and the pair have formed a good friendship.

He added: "Jonjo is a really good player and hopefully both of us could get a chance on Wednesday. He says I do a 'side smile' like Peter Crouch, he's hilarious.

"He was excellent when I played alongside him for the reserves last week and if he's given a chance I think he is well worth it because he had a great game.

"Jonjo is a quality young player and if he is given a chance then I'm sure he wouldn't let anyone down.

"He signed at the same time as me and we get on really well. We have got some good lads here and I get on really well with them. I get on really well with the guys here."

Torres definitely doesn''t need the game, as he proved agaisnt spain give him service and he will score.

I fully expect him to get at least half a dozen goals in the next 5 games.

Hope it's true. Would have also liked to see big Ngoo play.

Interesting, I guess those three will probably be on the bench, but it'll be good to see them involved. I guess suggesting these are involved means that some of the senior players will be rested and the young players a year or two ahead of these (Pacheco, Spearing, Kelly, Shelvey, Wilson etc) should certainly be involved.
