    Our season starts here.............

Well not even out of September and here is the first 'season starts here' thread

5 extremely hard games out of the way and lets face it we havent impressed at all.

But its all about the next 5.......We have to get 13pts imo to start the upward curve or the knives will be out for Roy big time. I am becoming increasingly worried by the game over hodgson's appointment but in the following 5 fixtures and with Merieles, Cole, Torres and Gerrard all in tandem we have to see Goals, Creativity and a will to win that has been so sadly lacking from last season and into this one.

I said in another thread its not the last 5 that defiine our season its the next 5.....Do well in these and we can look to the season with a reasonable optimism anything less than 10pts and I fear for Roy.

a very doable 15 points to be picked up there.

Minimum target has to be 13 points (four wins & a draw) but we should be aiming for 15 points.

I think we also need to start seeing some positive displays to, while 15points picked up scrappily would be fantastic, we need to start seeing shape, a vision and ideally scoring a few as well

I cannot see us getting 15 points. I would expect 10 points max, given our current form and style of play.

I think that we will win 13 out of 15 points.

Next 2 games are at home, which should give us a nice momentum going against Toffees and I see no reason why we should not win there too. Then we have a game against Blackburn at home and Bolton away and we should at least get 4 points there.

Given our current displays, I'd be absolutely over the moon with 15 points

Can't see it either though, have to say

                Zero seems about right.

                .
Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

May the Lord bless this post.

Well, you can write off the two away games for a start. I have a bad feeling about blackpool too.

From opponents point of view we're still where we were last season - we're a team that anyone has a chance against. None of those teams will have any real fear of us. And as always, I'd expect us to get **** all from a Steve Bruce team next Saturday. Why the **** does every game seem like a mountain to us at the moment?

have too beat sunderland, blackpool and blackburn at home. Minimum 1 point away to everton though a win would be a massive massive boost, and a draw against bolton.

Whilst on paper - i think we should be getting 15 points - and 13 points would be a good step forward, right now though, the way we are playing i'd settle for the above 11 points - 3 wins and 2 draws, pretty depressing, but at least an improvement of the first
i own everton fans on the internet....that's what i do

I honestly think we have to be looking at 13 pts minimum. As PTP says, the home games are must win. Bolton away is easier now they've become more of a football team and less of a rugby outfit - think we can win that if we've managed to lift ourselves and our confidence. And we've got a great record at Woodison too.

They were the better side in their match against Arsenal on Saturday, an given our fragility, I'd expect them to be a match for us, but I think we'll shade it.

We had 10 points in 8 games in 2005-06 season. We had some tough games back then too. We played Chelsea/Utd/Tottenham/Boro(who back then were a good team)
After that we kick started our season by getting 34/36 points. Then we lost our way a bit. We won 11/21 points and then 27/27.

Hope we go on that kind of a run. It's difficult now because we have Tottenham and City who have better/comparable squads to us.

Any less than 11 points and we should do the unthinkable and sack him. Three wins, a draw and a defeat would not be acceptable. I think we should be looking at maximum points, but 13 would be a good haul.
