    Post-mortem Northampton

Should Roy get the sack or should we give him more time? Do the players believe that Roy is the right man?

We played crap, Northampton deserved to win the game. That is a bottom team from the fourth highest division we are talking about and they deserved to win the game, at Anfield.

People will rightly point to the fact it was only the League Cup and it was a reserve team playing.

    BUT

We're at home, with plenty of paying punters in the stands.
The gulf in standing between the clubs is huge
And arguably the League Cup was our best chance of silverwear this year

Never warmed to Roy and nothing I've seen suggests he's capable. Still we might as well stick with him and see how far we drop.

            Sack roy
I think it's a foul, and if the ref gives it. He got to give a penalty. I know it's outside the box, but you see them given that close to the area. So if the ref gives it he's got to give the penalty as it so close to the area. But I think it's a penalty. Robbie Savage 8/11/06

We'd have maybe done better had we played carp instead of the players on the pitch

                Can't sack him. Yet.

Give him 5 more games and then see.

I will judge him on the owners he and Broughton bring in. Not a stand in manager.

Correct on both parts. It is just the league cup with a reserve side and it is a bit gutting for everyone, none more so than the paying punter. We'll get stick but in the grand scheme of things it doesn't matter.

This competition is for the reserve players to prove themselves and they've nobody to blame but themselves that their future chances are now limited.

but he brought Roy in thus playing the role of championship manager

I can understand that our youth team players don't understand the way Roy play because our youth teams play a very good pass and move style football and Roy is playing a hoof style football.

It's two totally different systems. That is a big problem. Roy need to change his style so the youth team players can adapt more easily.

Doesn't matter that it was ONLY the league cup nd we put the kids out. They are 17th in league 2 and our squad should be strong enough to beat these teams hands down.
