Strange, doesn't the first sentence provide a reason for the second? The fact that Rafa got criticism for a cup exit, but went on to achieve good things for a number of years... Rafa proves that it is daft to give 'massive criticism' for an early cup exit because it's no indication of, or inhibitor to, other success.Trey Nyoni: countdown to stardom-2 years1year0.5 years

Rightly or wrongly, if you crash out to a lower team in the cup you will get stick.Originally posted by Operation View PostStrange, doesn't the first sentence provide a reason for the second? I think you are agreeing with me soOriginally posted by DannyMan2006 View PostNo, he silenced them when he put out a proper team the next year and won the competition
However, winning the Champs League did kind of silence those critics a bit......
being as it was 4 months after the defeat to Burnley.
Modifying post.

Of course, stick is inevitable, but comments like 'he's the first Liverpool manager I despise' in the match thread are somewhat more than 'stick'.Originally posted by DannyMan2006 View PostRightly or wrongly, if you crash out to a lower team in the cup you will get stick.Trey Nyoni: countdown to stardom-2 years1year0.5 years

The critics were not saying he was the wrong man for the job, they said he was disrespecting the FA Cup and didn't understand the passion for the FA Cup. The critics were probably right tbh, but rafa gave the perfect answer the following year when he was questioned if he would learn from his mistake.Originally posted by Buzzo View PostI think you are agreeing with me so

It's a build up of things and tensions run high. I was too much in shock to be pissed off personally.Originally posted by Operation View PostOf course, stick is inevitable, but comments like 'he's the first Liverpool manager I despise' in the match thread are somewhat more than 'stick'.
Though in all fairness my main concern and only care atm is the 6th/11th October deadline.Forwards.......

It's a bandwagon thing the same person that despised him would love him in a few weeks if we won the next 5 or 6 games and looked brilliant. Things definitely need a change but its not worth slating into Roy just yet. I'm genuinely worried as to where our club is going to end up if we carry on at this rate, but there's plenty of season left and if things are still the same way in a month or two's time then maybe its the time to start panicking. For now I'm willing to grit my teeth and bear it out.

I kind of hoped we wouldn't turn into Newcastle fans if things didn't go smoothly. Personally, I'm unimpressed at the moment, but I'll assess where he is in 12 months time, not now. Expecting a manager to get it right in the first six weeks or face calls for his head doesn't seem reasonable to me.
