I have to agree with 90% of the criticism of the way we are playing at the moment and I'm concerned.

But I do think the whole "we are on the verge of relegation" is a bit disingenuous though at the moment. There's only been 5 games and it's just as true to say that we are only 3 points from 4th.

The league is wide open and a decentish run will catapult teams up the table very quickly.

I have a lot of concerns about how we're playing at the moment and how we're set out, but I can't join the "sack him" group after 5 league games.

My view is that most managers don't really add a great deal of value, and then there are a minority who add tons, and another minority who take tons away. I suspect Roy is in the first group who are basically competent and get their teams to where they should be.

Given the influence that wages play in deciding the league table, I'd guess our wage bill is now the 5th highest in the league (used to be 4th highest but I'm certain City have overtaken us now), suggesting that a Liverpool manager who adds nothing but also takes nothing away will finish 5th.

Out of interest, the two managers who consistently outdo their "wage table" position are O'Neill and Moyes. It's a pity that O'Neill hadn't walked a little sooner as I'd have taken him in a heartbeat.

It's **** at the moment, but surely we have to go beyond 5 league games before demanding sackings?
yep i said before .....10 games, the last 5 league games have been very hard and we havent done well. The next 5 are easily winnable and if we dont get 10pts+ with a marked improvement in play I will want him out.

The majority of teams Improve if only for a short while when a new manager comes in, we have continued on a downward curve so far.

After 5 hard and 5 easyish games in the league i will make a call, you can say are you a geordie etc, but the bottom line its a results business and its not only the results that worry me its everything else to!

It really is not Craig. Before I start my criticism of Roy, let me assure you that I am firmly in the give Roy some more time camp.

Roy's off the pitch demeanour and reaction to the defeats and our poor performance has been disappointing and it is obvious that he has friends in the media. I cringed when I read his response to the Shelvey question. It was the perfect opportunity to give a young player some boost.

Same with his response to Ferguson's "Torres is a cheat comment" after Nani spent the entire match on the floor. Show some ****ing cojones, Roy. You are the freaking manager of LFC now. It is not a popularily contest. Do you think Rafa, GH, Kenny, and the holy trinity would have taken such comments lightly. Even if they looked bad in the media, they would have gone out of the way to attack Ferguson.

One of the things Roy still has not understood is the importance of the emotional bond LFC fans have with their managers. Once we get the feeling the manager is willing to get into a street fight to protect our club, he will get a lot more leeway and support. It was obvious to us fans that Rafa and GH got it. With Roy, I see more of a diplomat. Even if Roy is successful - I see an Owen type of support. With Rafa and GH - it was more like Fowler.

no they havent.....just like we havent been relegated. But at present they are challenging for CL and we for relegation.

Although ridiculous to make such early judgements, them is the facts.

Am I right in thinking that is the first time we've been knocked out by 4th division opposition?

Without wanting to go all Craig_H on your ass, the comment I was responding to was that we are near relegation. This is not a fact. And is not correct. The fact of our league position does not change this.

It's all getting a bit 'semantics' here. It is absolutely clear the guy meant "mired near the relegation zone". Clearly he didn't mean "we are near to getting relegated".

We are near the relegation zone at the moment, like it or not that is a fact.

Northampton are in league 2 and we were knocked out by non-league Worcester City in 1959, according to Spionkop on SCM. But I guess this ranks as the worst in modern history.

I suspect he was using hyperbole to make a point. And when someone says the agree with it all, I think it's worth pointing out. Although I'm probably wrong, the place is full of hyperbole .
