To be honest, any team with Lucas, Spearing, Jovo, Soto and even an uninterested Babel is one that would lose to my 11 a side team. They are simply poor footballers from the El Zhar academy (and I don't mean the Futurama chef).

The team with Wisdom, Wilson, Shelvey, Amoo, Suso and Sterling though inexperienced would have beaten this Northampton side. Or at least given us a spectacular display of football before going down.

This is what I dont get

We gave Cavalieri away and signed Brad Jones for £2.5 million and before anyone starts talking quotas that can be debunked straight away

Then we have ****ed off Insua who admittedly wasnt any good but was young and maybe we could have improved and spunked over £5 million on a 30 year old who is also not very good and is highly unlikely to improve

The economics of it make no ****ing sense whatsoever
      I'm sorry.

I heard Diego wanted to go. Had enough of reserve football at the club.

I also heard Roy say he rated Inusa as a player and as a person, but it was out of his hands. As he is manager you would think he could cancel the transfer IF Insua wanted to stay.
      Forwards.......

He is a better player than Insua was and has more experience too. I'd like to have keot Insua as I'm confident he'd have been a decent player for us in the future though, I believe he is still contracted to us, someone correct me if I'm wrong.

£5 million in this day and age is not a lot of money, you know yourself that we couldn't afford more than that for anyone else and Hodgson has experience of working with Konchesky too which is probably the main reason we went for him.

He HAS looked nervy so far but it's a new team with different people around him and a ****load more pressure on him to perform than what he had at Fulham. He does need to improve his passing though!!
I have never seen anything, in nearly a decade of watching Konchesky, that would make me agree that he is better than Insua, he is certainly no way near as good on the ball. And Insua was not good enough to be a starter for us in the first place.

I think that's a slight generalisation and it glosses over things well too

          We were hardly watertight.

7th was unacceptable last season and it will be unacceptable again, despite us making a profit on tranfers AGAIN.

And yes, the owners are the main problem.
Well, that's what you're going to get. If you're going to sack the manager when he achieves seventh (or worse), then welcome to changing managers every season.
            .
Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

May the Lord bless this post.

I dont rate Konchesky never have whenever I've seen him

              He reminds me of Riise

If one manager leaves, another has to come in. I'm none the wiser as to who we interviewed for the job, but in a situation where the term could be until October, who in their right mind is going to apply for the job?

A bit. But we still had the third best defence!

It's a joke if he didn't made that clear when he accepted the job when you look at what Purslow did against Rafa.
He's an old man. He clearly can't see himself at the start of a long term ferige like dynasty. He wanted, quite understandably, to have LFC manager near the end of his CV, a kind of crowning glory with which to retire. I'm sure he had no hesitation signing, whatever the terms.

And Rafa challenged once, and then came 7th, in 5 years. Even under Houllier we managed 4th in his final, depressing season.

Tonight was a massive opportunity for Ryan Babel to prove his worth. He was one of our senior players this evening. I haven't watched the game, but I'm led to believe it was an abject performance which if true should finally convince Roy Hodgson that he simply has to offload Babel at the earliest opportunity. Babel isn't a kid, he shouldn't be a peripheral player.

I'm not a fan of Roy as a manager and would have preferred we didn't hire him and also would prefer if he left in the short term future. However calling for his head based on a league cup game, that no one gives a **** about with a bunch of reserves playing is hardly reasonable.

These games are kind of meant for that, alas if Rafa did it people would go crazy and say that he didn't respect the history of the competition and non-English managers can never understand that.

I'm dismayed by this but in all seriousness I'm more angry about how he played a 4-4-2 with that personal against City, signed Konckesky, sanctioned the loaning of Aquilani, Agger's comments and several other things which makes me doubt his knowledge in several areas. I'd love to hear his justification for a lot of things, because he's a pro and I'm not but clearly to anyone who understands the basic tactical mechanics of football some of his decisions don't make sense at all.

That was a horrific move, especially seeing that Cavalieri now warms the bench at Cessena. I don't know if they lied to him and said he'd be an undisputed starter or something, but for the mean time he's very much playing second fiddle.

Fair enough, if that's true. I wont argue with Statto

We must've been god damn awful going forward then.
