I'm talking about his time at Liverpol, not Valencia (in which Hector Cuper had a major part to play). There's no way we could have finished 4th last season. Arbeloa and Alonso were sold and effectively not replaced, with any money that was available through those transfers pissed down the drain.

Well we were competitive in terms of 4th until not far from the end, and while you might now claim "there's no way we could've finished 4th", a lot of people - both fans and media alike - reckoned a better manager would've gotten more out of the squad. We were told Roy would get more out of the squad. After the Arsenal draw they said "he is getting more out of them, he's galvanised them!". Now after some terrible results it's back to being Benitez's fault again. It's absolute arse gravy.

Not saying the manager is not capable of getting more out of the team than he is at the moment - but that takes time. What p's me off is the "sack" brigade, the "wouldn't be like this under Rafa" etc.

Moot point as he's not here any more.

Thing is, as you say, a whole rebuilding process 'takes time' and some people are saying that it would have been better to stick with what we had, as opposed to rebuilding with another manager - thought to be inferior by many.

75, then 55. 55 when it was still a very strong possibility we could get 4th. I didn't search anymore after that. I don't know if any additional polls were done. But 55 when it was still positive says alot for me.
