To single out Ngog, our top scorer with 7 goals and just a youngster, and Kyrgiakos (one of few who always tries) is pathetic.Paul Tomkins
Kuyt isn't perfect, but to say he never steps up to the plate ignores all the goals in big games, all the work. 15-goal man from right midPaul Tomkins
Clivey Tyldsley: "Rafa, Liverpool didn’t actually win either of the finals that yielded your silverware." What a pathetic thing to say.Are we winning?

Sour notes from Rafa Benitez
Posted on 4 October, 2010 by
If any Liverpool fan is wondering today whether the club did the right thing in getting rid of Rafa Benitez, don’t. Instead, read the defence of his realm that Rafa has been putting up at the very time when his old club are down and already getting a kicking from all sides….
“I was very clear that when I left, we had a better squad than we had in the past, and a better team. I left a good team, a very good team. A lot of people are talking about the legacy but the legacy is fantastic. When I left the club, Mascherano, Benayoun and Riera were there, along with Carra, Gerrard, Spearing, Darby, Insua, Cavalieri and Shelvey.”
I will leave those that have been paying to watch Albert Riera, Emiliano Insua and co for the last couple of years to pick as many holes as they care to in the above argument. Roy Hodgson’s first signings and the current team’s performances are clearly every bit as difficult to defend right now, but there is an honesty and an integrity about Roy that will be the starting points for tackling those issues. With Rafa, it was never ever his fault.
In the same sour interview he talks about the 4 trophies he brought to Anfield. I don’t recall an open-topped bus tour of the city for either the Community Shield or the European Super Cup. The trophy count was actually 2, wasn’t it? And, since two can play at this misinformation game Rafa, Liverpool didn’t actually win either of the finals that yielded your silverware.
There were many great days and nights during the Benitez era, and I was very fortunate to witness quite a few of them. He has earned both his place in Liverpool history and the affection with which he is still held on the Kop. It probably kept him in a job more than once during the last two or three seasons. But don’t push it now.
It is only human for a sacked manager to allow himself a wry smile when the club that dismisses him takes a few steps backwards in the wake of his departure. But any manager with a bit of grace and class will keep such thoughts to himself. Crisis is an overused word in football, but by their own standards of sound management and stellar success, Liverpool are in the midst of an emergency.
Anybody that cares an ounce for the club and its place in the fabric of English club football would recognise that. But with Rafa, it’s always ‘me, me, me’.Are we winning?

Roy should resign before he makes things worse and starts being hated by the fans. At the moment hes just a nice guy who is out of his depth and just couldnt motivate a kleptomaniac to steal.
He played Meireles on the wing... Kuyt in the hole... Then by the end of the match, Gerrard was CB, Meireles was LB and Kyrgiakos was playing up front. If that doesnt scream not having a clue whats wrong or how to fix it I dont know what does.
We arent doing the basics right, that and playing players out of position are the root of the problems. Players like we have on paper do not just forget how to play football, they are playing to the tactics and instruction of a manager who is way way out of his depth.
Bring Kenny in until new owners are in place please. It is almost impossible for Kenny to do any worse that Roy is at the moment, its a no lose situation.

I get the impression he's trying not to make a bad situation worse. It may be he's just trying to stay onside with the powers-that-be but no-one can doubt his affection for the club.Originally posted by The Birdman View PostHansen is beginning to lose a lot of the credibility and respect he built up as a player
I disagree with a lot of what he's said recently and I think his support of Hodgson (and criticism of Benitez, which amounts to the same thing) is misguided but I very much doubt he's blind to the problems and that at least a proportion of the blame lies with Hodgson..
Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.
May the Lord bless this post.

Bringing Kenny in now would be a mistake, if he makes things worse, it will tarnish his legendery name. Whos to say he will be any good now anyways. Football has changed since he last managed*Except Michael, who died.

I see what you mean Nige but my point was that he's actually trying to avoid controversy.Originally posted by NigelLG View PostThey're paid to create debate anyway, so the more controversial they are, the more the audience it creates.
If he heaped the blame on Hodgson, he would be stoking the fire. I think that's precisely what he wants to avoid doing either because he believes that we're stuck with Hodgson for the foreseeable future, because he wants to shield him from the fans to help get him the time needed to get it right, or both.
He is trying not to weaken Hodgson's position since he knows full well that's about all the manager appears capable of doing for himself..

We dont hate him. We want him to go, theres a difference. Although that will change the longer it goes on.Originally posted by Alex View PostSeems they already do.

Kenny cant do any worse than we already are, thats why its a no lose chance for him. If he brings us out of the storm he will be an even bigger legend, if he cant then at least he tried until we get a permanent manager in; and will still be a legend.

We're all aware of Kenny being from a past era but as soon as he put his name in, there was going to be only one popular winner between Hodgson and him. The fact is, Hodgson is clearly and completely out of his depth, he looks a bit like an old buffoon playing a role too big for his boots.
Then again, some managers have turned situations such as this before, so it might not be beyond him, but who would put his money on it at this point in time? Despite all his years of experience, he's clearly said some really daft things. I don't think there's a way back anymore for him.Are we winning?

Bloody hell pal, Kenny could not possibly make things any worse. Sam Allardyce could improve on the current ****e.Originally posted by Alex View PostSeems they already do.

I would pretty much guarantee that if he went tomorrow you would see a completely different performance against the bitters, with him in charge Im afraid we will just see more of the same.
It was clear from his first European match that it was 11 men behind the ball and defend defend defend, comments from Hangeland, Gera and even ****ing Murphy (who said he would be great for LFC!!) say that Fulham are far more adventurous now Hughes is in charge.
Woy has already said he wont change his method's that have brought 35 years of success

So we are stuck with it.

I don't hate him neither, but it seems some people are putting him in the same bracket as the owners/board because they appointed him in the first place and got rid of Rafa, who's still held in very high regard by a lot of fans.Originally posted by Alex View PostLots of this thread tells me fans do hate him. It's very unfortunate that Roy's going to take the full brunt of it if he doesn't turns things round. It's going to be him, then the players.
I can understand what Neil is saying about Hansen. It makes sense not to 'stoke the fires', makes perfect sense. I can't see the board sacking Hodgson now and I bet he's too proud a man himself to resign.
So, with this in mind, it might be better to try and put on a brave face even though we all know that his formations/teams etc aren't good enough. We don't have much choice but at the same time, we don't want to see our club go into that kind of mediocrity with the board/owners still living like a bit of a charmed life.
Someone/something at some point will have to buckle and give way. The pressure is mounting and people are losing their temper. Are we winning?
