To progress as a club lfc needs new owners, a new manager and funds available to buy players in the same league as Reina, Gerrard and Torres. It's been the same for a while and will continue until we get new owners who can back us in the transfer market.

It's an interesting theory. Not sure I'd go along with it fully but there is something to the idea that players perhaps past their peak exerting too much influence without turning in top performances is detrimental. I certainly think that a bit like when Henry was in decline at Arsenal it prevented other leaders growing up in the team. That said at this moment we don't have anyone I think might step up.

I'm not sure that we can replace Carragher or Gerrard "without any problem". It may however be true that we need to move beyond them if we are to progress in the near future.
