Great shout, big fan of his and just warming the bench at the moment which is very disappointing for a player of his quality

Does he? He always looked such a quality player for Russia...yet he's had so little playing time at Chelsea.

Cost about £17m, never plays, no-one says a ****ing word.

The Reds are confident that NESV, fronted by American businessman John Henry will have a £300million bid accepted by the board.

Current owners Tom Hicks and George Gillett are determined to battle for control at Anfield after refusing to bow down.

Liverpool have made their worst start to a season for 57 years with only a single Premier League victory to date.

The Anfield outfit have taken just six points from their opening seven matches and have sunk into the bottom three.

However, the club are confident that if the deal were to be completed, Hodgson would have money to spend.

The former Fulham manger told Liverpoolfc.tv: "We know what we must do. We need new players and investment.

"These things have been the case since I arrived here and we have not had a chance to put it right.

"I ask for the fans' patience, trust and belief as we will get it right."

Hodgson admits he is ready 'to put things right' in the transfer market and is keen to bring in real quality, admitting the squad are weak in some areas.

"It is clear we need to strengthen in certain areas of the team and bring in more quality," he said.

"I can guarantee that at the end of the season we won't be sitting there at the bottom.

"Sometimes, even after a few games, people see you down there and are ready to pass out, but we're not panicking. There is a lot more to come.

"A couple of good performances and good wins will put us in a decent position for the season ahead."

no need to wait weeks . . . . he already said it.
          Jesus Christ, what a retard.

I really don't want him to blow his load on **** players. The thought of Rafa being cash-starved then this buffoon being able to chuck millions at talentless British lummoxes sickens me to the very core.

No one says a word because Chelsea won the double.......

He is a quality player, him coming in was a right kick up the backside for Malouda who suddenly raised his game and looks the best left sided player in the league (though Bale is doing well).

He can also play LB, but Chelsea have Ashley Cole there.

Like you say, Chavs left side is fantastic.
              Forwards.......

I know that but I fail to see why it gives them carte blanche to make as many horror signings as they like without any of them being scrutinised or subject to the same criticism.

United won only the League Cup last season and went through most of the campaign with a misfiring £32m centre forward on their bench. No-one said anything, reason being their manager is proven to be successful. So ****ing what. He should have to play by the same rules as everyone else.

To be fair, this season he's been getting cameos and he's been class. Whenever he's on the pitch he is far from ****e, as you say it's just not a particularly easy position for him to break into as he's a left winger or left back where they have other quality players. It's common for players who come from Russia (or Brazil etc) to be eased into things in their first season because of the different structure of their league. If Zhirkov had to play in the first team for the entire season after signing it's 1 and half years of football without an off season. Only teams that desperately need their players like WBA and Odemwingie (class player can't believe he left CL/Europa football) for example.

Zhirkov is great but we'll never sign him.

Anyway, Roy's won't be sitting at the bottom comment, read it and couldn't believe it. It's a bad joke that keeps on getting worse and worse.

Personally, I think he'll have the season and they'll evaluate from there. Something similar to what happened at Chelsea when Abramovich took over and gave Ranieri a season.
I think he will be given time up to Christmas and then the owners will evaluate at that time the situation.

After all he is the most successful Liverpool manager over his first five games in Europe after all... ;-)
Jacques Brel is alive and well and playing at Anfield

Some people - naming no names - were genuinely using that as a means of trumping him up

Along with that famous win against Trabzonspor.

no way will he be given that long imo. thats about another 12 games or in Hodgson's world about 8 pts.

Every time he has opened his mouth over the last month he has driven fans away with his small time mentality and IF the club has been sold, well if things arent right on the pitch we will be quick to show our rage at a manager many didnt want to start with.

Every game is a chore and it's not getting any easier.

                          Retirement.
                          .
Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

May the Lord bless this post.

Broughton confirms Hodgson release clause (ESPN)

                              By Harry Harris, Football Correspondent

Liverpool chairman Martin Broughton has confirmed to ESPNsoccernet that the future of manager Roy Hodgson following a takeover is catered for in the provisions of his contract.

Prospective owners New England Sports Ventures (NESV), led by John W Henry, plans to sit down with Hodgson once the deal is complete to discuss his vision for Liverpool's future.

The men who own the Boston Red Sox have no immediate plans to install their own manager but Broughton was brutally honest about the situation Hodgson now faces, and how Hodgson entered into his Liverpool contract with his eyes wide open.

In an exclusive interview with ESPNsoccernet, Broughton revealed: "Roy knew when he signed up from Fulham that we were in the process of finding new owners, it was not a surprise to him. He was fully reconciled with the possibility there would be an ownership chance and the risk involved with that.

"But Roy is self confident and was, when he signed up, confident he was capable of doing the job at Liverpool. With that in mind provisions were made in Roy's contract to relate specifically to any change in ownership."

The 'break clause' in Hodgson's contract was revealed by ESPNsoccernet this week, although even then there were no hints that a change in manager was being planned immediately.

"I suggested that the clause relates to Hodgson being paid a full year's salary within 28 days should the new owners want to bring in their own manager," Broughton commented: "I don't have Roy's contract in front of me, so I can't comment on that, but it is something like that in his contract.

"But he came to the club knowing full well the circumstances and the risks attached to it."

Hodgson will have to prove himself to the new owners. Broughton added: "I would full expect Roy to continue as manager and there has been no indication to me to suggest otherwise. However, as we all know, at the end of the day, everything depends on results."

I think it's fair to say that Roy is a dead man walking. Personally, he'll have done well to survive past the Everton game should we lose that match. I am more and more optimistic that he'll be gone before Christmas.
