Inter Milan were pluged into chaos this afternoon after it emerged that manager Rafa Benitez had been in contact with Liverpool officials over a possible sensational return to Anfield.

The Spaniard, who left Liverpool under a cloud and who recently stated that he had unfinished business at the Reds claimed that Liverpool was his home. His contract with Inter still has 21 months to run and incredibly it does not include a buy out clause leaving Benitez effectively free to speak to other clubs.

Speaking from his Milan base, Benitez said earlier today "There have been some contacts with Liverpool, its true. However, I have a contract with Inter which has 2 years left to go. At this moment, I dont want to say too much because I have a contract with Inter and have to be respectful of them. But those close to me know that Liverpool is my home and the fans are my own. We need to analyse things and see what happens."

If we get any money I don't want it given to him. He just doesn't feel like a Liverpool manager and I can't see that that he will ever develop the connection with the fans that previous managers had. This mutual trust is something we have mostly benefited from over the years.

With the ownership situation seemingly resolved, what will happen to Roy? Will the new owners bring in their own man or will Roy be here for the long haul?

Personally, I think he'll have the season and they'll evaluate from there. Something similar to what happened at Chelsea when Abramovich took over and gave Ranieri a season.

I've always been a committed ABU - Anyone But United - and now I find I'm an even more committed ABFH - Anyone But ****ing Hodgson - so I'd be happy with just about anyone in the short-term as they simply could not do worse than him

He has to go and he can take his steady feckin hands with him. Perfect opportunity to bring in a new manager even Kenny in the interim, galvanise the team, the feel good factor from sale and new manager syndrome would mean we could to the Toffees take all three points and salvage something from this season.

If we continue with the status quo at management by the time a change is made, we'll be stranded in mid-table mediocrity.
