Would rather see Meireles behind Torres and Stevie in CM with Lucas. Stevie can take the game by the scruf of the neck at CM and get the balls to Meireles and Torres. Meireles passing is not his strongest facet, whereas Stevie has range and can pick a pass, and can act as that cog between midfield and forward line.

I dont know man, he passed it well today. Few overhit ones when trying to play Torres through on goal but overall his passing was fairly accurate.Originally posted by danperkins View PostWould rather see Meireles behind Torres and Stevie in CM with Lucas. Meireles today took me by surprise a bit. I thought he would struggle a bit with it just being him and Lucas but he more than held his own.

I just feel Steive can pull the strings better in the centre of the park and orchestrate it more, Meireles has lots of energy and likes a shot, IMO its playing to his strengths by giving him a more forward thinking role.Originally posted by Rudo View PostI dont know man, he passed it well today. He was much better second half today, he needs to start imposing himself and games more, glad Roy is playing him central anyways which is a start. I'm not Meireles biggest fan but playing him centrally is a must.

For me its:
------Lucas---Gerrard------
Cole/Kuyt--Meireles----Maxi
-----------Torres---------
Gerrard is much more dynamic than Meireles and has a far superior passing range which is vital in the centre of the park, plus he is more stable defensively than Meireles. Meireles links play, tries to play quick tempo with short one touch passes and moves forward, which is positive and he likes a strike on goal, his progressive play will mean he'll be close to Torres and not wander like Stevie does. I trust Stevie to get the ball to the forward line more so than Meireles at this juncture.Last edited by danperkins; 29-11-10, 12:27 AM.
