He's been ****, but I feel very sorry for the lad.

The fact that he hasnt shown what type of player he is in those 11 games illustrates the problem with portugese football. Too many players who can control a ball and run but who do little else.

he's played against us a couple of times and both times he did nothing. Im not writing him off but the system doesnt suit him.

he isnt strong enough to play defensive midfield,
he's too lightweight to play in the middle
he doesnt have enough tricks to play out wide

we could always play him in goal when reina leaves.
      That's the key.

Roy's system does not suit him as it does not suit the most of our players (surprise, suprise,..). Bring a new manager, change formation, stuck him in CM role, let him play as many games as he played out of position and then judge him.

Anyone who thinks Meireles is a bad players needs to have a word with himself. He is a good player. He uses the ball well and gets into the box and can unleash a shot from outside the box. He needs to play in his position for him to work well

He reminds me of Abou Diaby. Not a mean tackler but can still stick his foot in, not an incredibly intelligent player but he can still be involved in good build up. But has a very good motor and has a very good pass and move game with a high work rate. He would be perfect in a 4-3-3. He isn't there to directly assist all the goals, nor is he there to stop the other team from scoring, simply to link up play and play a high tempo game so the guys up top not only have space from the early releases to create an opportunity, but have the opportunity to give the ball back to him and get it back again as he supports through the middle.

Unfortunately, you're assuming that everyone who posts on here has a sound knowledge of football. Most do, but as with any large group of people there are a small handful who are utterly clueless. Literally to the point where virtually every view they have, is the wrong way round.

He's far better technically, than Diaby. And gives you more going forward too.

Watch it from near the end to see that pass and move goal he scores. Thats the quality I am hoping to see out of Meireles if he got his chance in a 4-3-3, pass and move and just keep ****ing running!

                        I'll get his address

I went to bed at half time last night. Best decision I ever made. Got rubbished during the night and woke up at 4.30 am still drunk and had to watch that ****. My anger will build during the week till I get to where you are by about wednesday

I was exactly the same, he didn't seem to do anything but I was impressed with him in the World Cup and hence pleased to see him come.
Thanks very much for being ‘This Mornings’ Farmer’

I think he's a good addition to the squad. He ain't outstanding but in the right system I think he'd do pretty well.

He isn't one of the current crop of great midfielders though - and when you look our recent past, and present he comes up short when comparing him with Mascherano, Alonso, Gerrard, Hamann, and possibly Momo.

Spain portugal wednesday, lets see how he performs against our beloved Xabi. I still feel he's a good player in a crap setup.

                                Totally agree.

It's no coincidence that, this season, all of Johnson, Carra, Skrtel, Meireles and Torres, have all looked ****.

Either they've ALL become **** overnight, or the manager and the system is utter bollocks.
