Ok, I've had enough of the supreme idiot that is Hodgson, so apologies for the long post:

Player power is part & parcel of the modern game and only a strong, highly motivated, ruthless manager can hope to deal with it. That manager also needs wholehearted backing from the club, otherwise they become isolated and ultimately ineffective.

For me Rafa was one of only a small handful of managers in that category (Mouronho, Ferguson, Wenger, Ancelotti, Guardiola to name a few). Rafa, while he had the club's backing kept the team moving forward in his style. When that backing disappeared the lid on Pandora's Box was lifted and the game was up. Without the ability/authority to shift players who become too powerful you're a goner. Shanks did it, Dalglish did it, even Houllier bloody did it. Rafa lost the ability to do it, hence we're in the **** situation we find ourselves.

Unfortunately for me we need 2 things:
    1. A proper world class manager, one that understands a big club mentality, where to win is the only driving force, where stature, gravitas & class are as important as fearless mentality on the pitch. Big clubs, especially LFC don't fear clubs, they fear us. We respect them. Roy doesn't even seem to know that the "This is Anfield" sign even exists let alone what it stands for. All managers since Shanks have revered that sign.

    2. Give that manager free reign to ditch WHOEVER he wants, period. No and/if/buts. Get rid of and buy who he wants (within NESV's limits of course). Otherwise, forget it and get used to being Blackburn

I've nailed my colours to the mast, I always wanted Rafa to have 1 more season under new owners, fully backed. Didn't happen, that's life, but I've never liked or wanted Roy. He's a small minded manager with very limited ambition. Give Dalglish the reins, & AUTHORITY to discipline ANY player he sees fit until the new manager is appointed.

We need to start being Liverpool Football Club again, NOW!
I'm in a glass cage of emotion!

Reina, gerrard, Torres. Everyone else can go if needs be. Carra, agger, cole, kuyt etc, all good played but I wouldn't lose sleep over them. I don't think a complete clearout is really necessary, but I wouldn't be against it either.

As a bare minimum, konchesky, Johnson, poulsen, babel shouldn't be at lfc. We'll see about jova but he Lucas, Ngog, Skrtel shouldn't be firstteam regulars.

The Glen Johnson witch hunt is a ****ing disgrace. Sheer stupidity.

He can't defend, for club it country. You may talk about him being similar to Alves or Maicon, but they don't play in England. He may do ok abroad, but he's a defensive liability in England. Turned as often as Konchesky.

He's nowhere near as bad as people make out. He's no Maldini obviously, but his nosedive in form has coincided with our whole team being ****.

            You dont become useless overnight.

As said the other day, with a fullback, you either have one who is great going forward but not the best defender. Or you have a great defender, who offers nearly nothing going forward. Before Johnson, we were bemoaning our lack of width. He came in and solved it. Now people whinge the opposite.

Cant have it both ways. Unless we're going to spend £50m on Ashley Cole.

I don't accept it's as black and white as that. Our previous rightback, who was better and sold for a fraction of the cost of Johnson had a far better balance of both. Would you say Arbeloa was poor going forward? I would say he had the right mix for the PL. Johnson does not.

Arbeloa was alright going forward, but there's a reason Johnson was the one who beat players, and set up/scored goals, while Arbeloa didnt.

I would've kept Arbeloa too, because i think it's better to have both options.

He had a year left on his contract - i would've made him honour it.

One year's worth of Arbeloa is worth more than the £3m we got for him.

Didn't seem like the kind of player who would sulk/go on strike etc.

You keep going on about this but they aren't robots... If a man you employ tells you he wants to go home, back to Madrid, you've got to be pretty heartless to refuse him.

Arbeloa is a great player and perhaps one of Rafa's shrewdist buys but he wanted out. Sadly.

Apparently Rafa agreed to let him go? Wasn't he offered a contract the year before he left but Rafa asked him to stay for one more year which he did?
