    Torres injury

Liverpool have confirmed that Fernando Torres sustained ankle ligament damage during the 2-0 defeat at Stoke on Saturday.

The problem is only thought to be a strain and Torres is still set to meet with Spain ahead of their international friendly with Portugal next week.

Liverpool have already been in touch with Spain's medical team and they have confirmed he will travel to Lisbon next week.

A Liverpool statement read: "Fernando Torres sustained an ankle ligament strain during Saturday's clash with Stoke City - but the striker will still join up with the Spain squad for their international with Portugal.

"The Reds' medical team have been in contact with their Spanish counterparts to keep them up to date on the 26-year-old's condition.

"Torres will have the injury further assessed by the Spanish medical staff ahead of the friendly in Lisbon on Wednesday."

We shouldn't let him join up with the Spain squad, we need him fit, we can't risk him making it worse.
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

It's not a matter of letting him join up with his national team - UEFA rules mean that they have 1st call on him when it comes to international duty.

I personally hate the rule - but it's there.

I couldn't even care. We're not getting relegated and we're not gonna come top 4. So whether or not Torres is fit doesn't really matter for now.
          Forwards.......

Actually, as it's a friendly, i believe we're entitled to withdraw him.

He won't play, Llorente and Villa upfront.

Just Villa? More like Villa, Xavi, Pique, Puyol. Now I want him to go even less

Actually if Torres goes there Villa might not see as much game time up front and therefore not want Torres there, send him send him!

Villa loves playing with Torres. He actually says that the reason he scores the goals he does is because of Torres' movement and space he creates. Look at the world cup, Villa only scores when Torres is alongside him.

In 4-3-3 Villa would end up on the left or on the bench? Surely they wouldn't change to 4-4-2

Villa happily plays on the left of the upfront attack. Pedro on the right of recent. Villa is better running into the box than being in the box. When Llorente plays Villa is still pushed left.
