2 points:Originally posted by Baracus View PostBased on performances so far from Cole. I'd say Yossi was better. But based on performaces so far every player has been ****e under Roy. Even pepe's had some howlers that we did not see under the previous management
1) based on performances so far, Elmander is better than Rooney. Except, he obviously isnt. As you say, everyone's been ****e under Roy.
2) Benayoun's hardly played anyway.

Cole hasn't proved a thing after his long term injury. He hasn't proved that the injury hasn't affected him in a negative way.Stop the cyberhate

Absolute nonsense. Yossi is NOT a better player than Cole. JC might have struggled for form and a complete lack of coaching (which I think that type of player needs) so far this season, but c'mon, have you seen us?! Based on this season, all our players are ****Originally posted by Arn View PostYossi is a better player than Cole.

No it doesn'tOriginally posted by NigelLG View PostHis output (goal scored/assists etc) for the past 2 or 3 years prove that.I saw a dead fish on the pavement and thought "what did you expect?"

No it doesn't
Cole
Yossi played 134 games and scored 29 goals in 3 seasons with us, making it roughly 1 goal every 4 games.
Cole played 278 games and scored 40 goals in 7 seasons for Chelsea, making it roughly 1 goal in 7 games.
What those stats show is that Yossi is marginally a more productive player than Cole. Those stats don't show assists though, so it could be either way, but what those stats show, is that Yossi's output, as an average is better than what Joe Cole produced at Chelsea, even in an arguably less talented team.
All in all, it's far from being 'complete nonsense'.

All it shows, literally ALL it shows, is that Yossi scored more goals. If that is your sole barometer for measuring a player's ability, then we'll just have to agree to disagreeOriginally posted by NigelLG View PostYossi

Well, football is about scoring goals no?Originally posted by Fierce View PostAll it shows, literally ALL it shows, is that Yossi scored more goals. If that is your sole barometer for measuring a player's ability, then we'll just have to agree to disagree
I don't know how you and Craig can measure a player's ability then, if you don't take into consideration his output such as goal scored / assists etc ... Maybe Cole does more stepovers than Yossi? Bicycle kicks?
In any case, if we don't agree on how to measure that, then let's agree to disagree, as you say.

Obviously Nigel mentioned he didn't have assists.

Interesting comparison. Not sure why you are trying to reduce the debate to being about a single metric though Nige.
My feeling is that the two players are of a fairly similar level. Cole I would suggest has produced the goods in big games on a more consistent basis but appears to require a manager to do his thinking for him, Yossi struggles more when up against organised and physical defences but is better at punishing poor teams by scoring. I think Cole is largely over rated as he is too dim to put the skills he has to consistently good use. In Roy's system he is more or less totally useless. Not sure Yossi would have been much better."The man who never alters his opinion is like standing water, and breeds reptiles of the mind."
