    Broughton - a final goodbye

We seem to have had two or three goodbye Broughton threads, but for one final time...

    From today's match day programme...

This evening's game is my last home fixture as Chairman of Liverpool Football Club.

It was always my stated intention to stand down once the sale was completed and I am happy that the club is now in good hands.

This has been one of the most memorable experiences of my working life and I would like to wish Liverpool and its supporters every success for the future.

The last seven months have been a pleasure and a privilege for me to serve this fantastic sporting institution.

Everybody associated with the club can now look forward to an exciting future with the right owners and the club on a secure financial footing.

I am proud to have been your Chairman during this turbulent time and would like to place on record my thanks to all of you, for the support you gave me, Christian Purslow, Ian Ayre and all the staff during this period.

Liverpool FC will always hold a special place in my heart as a result of the relationships I have forged over these past months.

Thanks Martin, you did us proud
Thanks very much for being ‘This Mornings’ Farmer’

Hear hear. A much overused term these days but, and I don't care if he got a million quid for doing it, a LEGEND.
I have one word to offer - honesty. I couldn't be devious if I tried. Joe Fagan.

      Thanks Martin
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

Top man, had a lot of criticism while he was here, had it all under control and was true to his word.

All the best Martin, you will always be remembered.

Fair play to the man for everything he did for us during a very, very difficult time.

Did amazing to get rid of the previous owners. His success will be measured by Nesv's though. That said, we weren't exactly inundated with genuine offers.

I think he will prove a major figure in our history.
                    Forwards.......

Bet he wishes he was a Liverpool fan now.

                          Cheers anyway...

                            Top notch professional.

Got so much abuse and criticism for no reason and I am glad he proved all doubters wrong that business integrity comes ahead of an personal (club) fan devotions.

                            Thank you Mr. Broughton
