Maybe i'm being overly negative but just don't get why people are so grateful.

The man was doing his job, and being very well paid.

so i take when someone does a job for you say like a plumber,glazier or you get served in a shop you don't thank them because they were only doing there job.

You do realise that there are an awful lot of people that are doing their jobs not very well, and are still rewarded. Hodgson for instance.

The way that Broughton completely tied H&G in knots, despite them trying to fire the board, undermine him, and going to court in two continents speaks volumes. He knew exactly what he was doing, and was confident in his ability to deliver his objective. I think there are very few people that would have got the same outcome in those very difficult, yet very public, high pressure circumstances.

That is why I am grateful.

Clearly he knew from the very beginning. The terms he (and/or RBS) demanded in order to take the job - specifically his control over the composition of the board - were crucial. I had misgivings and it could have been very different but he and RBS got us out of a big, big hole.

I think that should not be forgotten in years to come. It was a complete check-mate. Every exit was covered.

Not really, we're playing ****e football and need new players, not to mention a class manager. Broughton's sale of the club won't necessarily give us that.

Jury still out on this one.

He was supposed to be looking after the long term interests of the club, and knowing the then ownership versus Rafa situation as it was and not knowing when new owners would be found he had to go with the most amicable(?) option at the time - nice man Roy.

That said, do we know how long he'd been talking to Henry, and could Rafa's tenure have been extended as necessary?
