I'd love to know how much of the decision not to press ahead with alves was down to Rafa - and not the club saying 'no'. Sometimes you have to pay the going rate - but we're simply not willing to do that anymore.

on a serious note, I dont mind Pennant (as long as he leaves his mobile at home), and for 6m its not too bad imo. He has quality and is a diamond in the rough at the moment but with top quality coaches, some dicipline and a right diet plan he could be superb for us for many years to come.
I wouldnt mind Treza on a loan deal, even for a season with the option of buying him next year, at least this way we can save the 10m we have left and either buy him next year if he turns out ok or ship him back off to Juve and put that 10m towards someone like Torres or Villa.
