carra out and while im gutted im also slightly relieved. IMO carra has been needing a "rest" ( i nkow an injury isnt the same) for a while. we need to be looking after him now hes getting on. the way modric walked past him yesterday was a bit of a worry as he's not even that fast.

skittles is finally looking like the player he was when we first bought him and with agger injured, zorba should come into the team. wilson can play back up till carra back and as there no more "big" teams to play till february, this is the idewal time for carra to get an imjury.

I'm not sure Kelly is ready to be thrown in at CB although we won't ever find out as there is no chance of Hodgson playing him there.
Wilson would be my choice to be given a chance, he has more first team experience at CB, played in the CL and for Scotland as a CB whereas all of Kelly's first team experience for us and on loan has been at Full Back.

This could have been a real opportunity to see how the backline copes without Carra.

Ideally with Agger out I'd like to see Wilson start but obviously young players get you the sack so it'll be Skertel and the Greek with PFK and johnson as full backs.

i think its becuase the greek isnt the future and by playing him we are no closer to finding out who will replace carra

at some point the new players do need blooding

I agree but I don't see throwing a young player into a team which is not settled or playing well as a good way to develop them either. I think short term we need to play Kyrgiakos and ideally keep bringing Kelly on from the bench at either CB or Rb to get him up to PL speed.

Fair enough. I don't think it was tiredness related personally though, he's been that slow for a while now.

This season is a complete and utter write off - under a new manager it would be a good idea to blood the youngsters, under Roy it'll be one mistake then a chat to one of the red tops about how X cost us the game!

We need to replace Carra for the long term and with him out for possibly a couple of months it should be the time to do it, or certainly give game time - the way things are though it has got to be the greek and Skrtel.

Oh and I think Kelly should be ahead of Wilson in the CB pecking order currently.

wouldnt want to blood a youngster with the current form either. its a shame remember wilson has played in the CL and is used to pressure from being at Rangers. whilst the league isnt strong the pressure on players from the old firm is high.

kelly played through need, he did very well at RB when he came in, that is very true.

The Greek does deserve game time, no doubt but we're in a transition period and for that reason now would be a good time to blood some of the youngsters.

I'd rather it's not done though and certainly at CB under Hodgson, as any mistake is far more costly that at full back (unless you're PFK!) and he seems to have a habit of blaming individal mistakes - this for Kelly, Wilson, Pacheco etc.... is something that could set them back.
