For me like everyone else, it's Pepe. But if Roy has some strange superstition going back to when he was managing P.E. lessons in the 1970's about not giving the armband to a keeper, I don't think Lucas is an unreasonable shout after Kuyt.

It must be Pepe, if it's not then Hodgson is an idiot, he's a constant in the team for one thing, but apart from that he's the stand out choice, but as has been mentioned, if he's daft enough not to give it to Pepe because he's a keeper, then it must imo be Torres, give the lad the honour of leading Liverpool..see what happens...might be the spark that lights a fire in him.

I think Pepe is by far and away our most natural leader or captain, but I'm not sure about a keeper having the armband.

Other than him I guess you'd look at a senior player such as Kuyt or even Kyrgiakos.

I'd think about giving it to Torres though - not because he deserves it as such - but he was captain of Atletico for a long time, and it might well give him a much needed confidence boost.

i can see the logic of giving it to torres, in which case it wouldn't be any kind of reward. give him some responsibility and see if that helps any...

I see logic in appointing Torres too but I'm 100% sure Roy doesn't.

As said above, no brainer -Pepe. But as someone said 'should a goalkeeper ever be captain?', personally I don't think so and as such it should be given to Torres. He's a big player for us, he's a fantastic player, he doesn't seem to have a clear head or enough confidence at the moment and it might give him that boost he needs.

I’ve joked a few times about Lucas being our future captain, but although he is the prefect role model I just don’t think he has the leadership qualities at the minute for the job. I also feel he still doesn’t get the respect he deserves from some of his team mates although the two main culprits wouldn’t be present if the armband was up for grabs.

Kuyt was 3rd choice captain under Rafa and I’d be surprised if Roy changed that.

Surely the whole argument is that because a goalkeeper is so isolated he can’t communicate with his team mates as well as an outfield player so he wouldn’t make a good captain. On that basis you couldn’t give the job to Torres then as considering how we set up, he’s the most isolated man on the pitch.
