    Agger: "I'm going nowhere"

Today the Danish news paper - Morgenavisen Jyllands-Posten (the Danish version of The Times) - has an interview with Daniel Agger.

I ran the text through Google Translate and haven't got the time to change any funny expressions but you'll get the meaning anyway.

Apparently he's adament (if we forget speculations about press strategy etc. and believe him) to stay and fight for his place which I see as great news - he'd lift our team even with only one leg

Daniel Agger: I'm not going anywhere

'How could they throw me out, even though they wanted to? I have four years left on my contract, "says Daniel Agger, who does not understand the massive speculation about a transfer. The injured defender expects to be ready again around Christmas.

Talking Heads is not only an American rock group from 80 'markets. It is an English expression about the heads, who comment and fantasizes of subjects and end up turning them into false truths.
Such an incident happened to deputy captain of the Danish national team, Daniel Agger, last week.
Through media sources in the North of England or Liverpool Danish media heard, that Daniel Agger would leave Liverpool. Probably already in the winter transfer window.
Now, says Daniel Agger, it is not going to happen.
"I'm the only one who knows if it will happen. Liverpool can not throw me out of the club, even if it wanted, and I have four years left on my contract.
I think it was very strange to see one and the other yell and scream about something, which they know nothing about. I do not understand why they do it when they do not know a damn thing about what they're talking about.
I can not stop it, and I can only laugh about it, "says Daniel Agger.
There are two compelling reasons pointing against Daniel Agger leaving Liverpool.

    Appointment to 2014

Firstly, he made eighteen months ago, a long-term contract with Liverpool FC giving ham a hefty pay increase and tying him to club until summer 2014 It will be hard for Liverpool FC to lease or sell Daniel Agger to another club if the club had plans for it. For which club will take over Liverpool's financial obligations to Agger when he's been injured almost the whole autumn?
Secondly, Daniel Agger has a clear expectation of hearing from Liverpool FC's manager Roy Hodgson if he had plans about shipping the Dane out of the club. Not least in light of the winter transfer window opens in a month. That has not happened.

"I expect that Roy Hodgson is man enough to say that up in my face, if he does not need me, and he has not said anything in that direction," says Daniel Agger.
He says he will continue to fight for his place, even if Liverpool want to sell him.
"As long as I believe I should be entitled to a place, I'll go for it," said Agger and stresses that he feels he is good enough.

    Persistent problems

The Danish central defender admits that he has had his problems since Roy Hodgson began as manager of the club this summer.
Especially with an injury that developed grim for Agger.
Firstly Daniel Agger again had to deal with back problems, and it prevented him from playing international match in Portugal Friday 8th October. The day after he surprised by meeting for Saturday's national team training before Tuesday's game against Cyprus. On Sunday was Agger suffered a new injury.
This time the calf, but still volunteered himself ready for the match against Cyprus without knowing how serious the injury was. He may however be replaced after 39 minutes.
"It was piece of bone that was beaten of the calfbone. I thought afterwards, like all others, that it was just a knock. I could feel it was quite bad when I played international match, but the doctor said I would be ready again after a week. I tried to train after a week in Liverpool, and I should probably not have done.
I had to abandon it, and I had even after one week more, "said Agger.
He took a specialist in London and a scan showed the calf bone injury.
Apparently his injuries develop into something more serious than they should.
"That's how I'm built and I must learn to live with that. I have to do much preventive work to avoid damage and I also use time in the gym, "he says.
Soon he expects to be able to train with the Liverpool squad again.
"I hope I can start on the training before Christmas and then be able to play games at Christmas. The important thing for me is to be harmless, and I'm sure I can make the team here, "Underlines Daniel Agger.

            lets hope so V.

maybe he has had assurances to stick around as his brand of football might be appreciated by a new man.

Hopefully. Im sure he's smart enough to know that Hodgson won't be around long anyway, plus he's very well settled in Liverpool

And just to remove any doubts about the sauce...
I know the journalist who has told me that Agger approved the quotes before the article was printed

I read the thread title as "I'm going nowhere (under Hodgson)" and found myself agreeing!

                      Hope he cements his place.

No Daniel the first you will hear of it is when our manager gives an interview to some media outlet to reveal this, as this seems to be his usual modus operandi

Aye, even out of Agger's mouth I have my doubts about such a progressive defender under Bodge. At least this shows he wants to stop put.
                          3rd place. Worst champions ever.

Interesting that Agger has come out with this and Pacheco is reportedly signing a new deal, these were players that it seemed didn't get on with Roy. Hopefully they've been told we're likely to change manager in the not too distant future : prays:
