I always though Savage was a decent player TBH. He was just unfairly targeted by bald people and people with **** haircuts who were jealous of his own excellent barnett.

Plus it doesn't help that he's a bit of a cunt (and welsh)
A lot of people run a race to see who is fastest. I run to see who has the most guts, who can punish himself into exhausting pace, and then at the end, punish himself even more.

Roy Hodgson has confirmed Liverpool have opened preliminary discussions with Lucas Leiva with regards to a new contract for the midfielder.

The Brazilian has enjoyed an excellent 2010-11 season so far and could be rewarded for his fine form with a new deal.

Asked by reporters if there were any contract talks with Lucas on the horizon, Hodgson said: "I think there is, yes. A couple of days ago Damien (Comolli) mentioned to me about a thread on a football forum titled Give Lucas a new contract and thought it was a good idea. He wanted to get in touch with Lucas's agent to discuss a new contract, but I can't quite frankly remember where we are.

"Certainly if you ask me the question 'Is Lucas welcome at the club and would we like to keep him?' then the answer is a resounding 'Yes'. If you ask me the question 'Is Poulsen welcome at the club and would we like to keep him?' then the answer is a resounding 'No' but he's my lovechild and I can't let him go"

Meanwhile, journalists quizzed Hodgson on the latest transfer speculation in the press - and the boss dismissed suggestions Glen Johnson could move to pastures new in the January window.

He said: "As far as I'm concerned, Glen Johnson will be a Liverpool player certainly for as long as his contract and possibly beyond that. We're very happy with him. He's a top-class player, an England international - why should we want to lose him?"

Hodgson was also asked if there was any truth in the rumours linking Liverpool with Ronaldinho, Ashley Young and Luis Suarez.

The manager replied: "I've got to say, Ronaldinho and Suarez are players we've never even thought about.

"I wouldn't have thought there is a manager in the Barclays Premier League who hasn't given Ashley Young a thought at some stage or another.

"But giving a player a thought and thinking he's a good player, and signing him are two vastly different things.

"I could give you quite a long list of players playing in the Barclays Premier League who I admire and think are very, very good.

"But I'm afraid there is no truth in the rumour if you're asking me if any discussions are taking place between Aston Villa and Liverpool."[/QUOTE]

Highlighted point 1 - even if he's trying to say the right things, he still comes across as a doddering old fool. "Comolli mentioned something, and we discussed it but i think i've forgotten" FFS sake. Like a proper 98 year old who forgets things.

Highlighted point 2 - this backs up my theory that Hodgson only knows about players in the PL and/or players he has personally worked with in the past.

His knowledge of european football outside of scandanavia and Serie A early-mid 90s, is ****ing embarrassingly lacking.

I wouldnt be surprised if he hadnt even heard of Suarez prior to the World Cup

****ing unbelievable. To make a statement that he never thought about Suarez is as ridiculous as it can get.

Get him out of there fast before he doesn't do any more permanent damage...An idiot.

I thought that was a saj edit and started a post to make fun of you before double checking, can't quite remember we were? Oh, ok, it's not like this is important or anything like that.
                    * The above is posted in my opinion. Feel free to disagree.

Didn't he say the same thing when asked about his attack on Glen Johnson? "I have to say I can't remember saying it"

****ing hell - either, hodgson is being honest - if so, it says to me he won't be here longer if he doesn't know where we are with a players contract - or he really is a ****wit who doens't have a clue. - actually probably both

What's wrong with a manager saying he doesn't know how far along the contract talks are?
It's not his job and rightfully so.
