Biggest hats off go to Martin from Stoneycroft though. He hit every nail firmly on the head and backed it up with numerical fact.

The only disappointment was that nobody mentioned 2008-2009, when Rafa managed to match Hodgson's whole career record of away wins, in just one season. Werner daftly pointed to Jan-May 2010, and said about us winning only one away game during that period, as though it means Hodgson's record isnt any worse.

Overall though, i think they've firmly got the message. Let's hope they do actually listen, like they keep saying they're here to do.
    Cheers for this resume mate.

Was the Martin fella championing Rafa's case of was he talking generally?
    Are we winning?

Poulsen will be one of those players surely? Anything over min wage is overpaying that cunt.

Martin's was a hatchet job on Hodgson and his dire CV/record rather than a pro-Rafa call.

This has started already, and has nothing to with whether some players are paid too much or not. If some or not living up to their value, I'm sure they will be moved on.

I think they are identified where to make the biggest impacts first, and none of us knows how that will be manifested.
I just think it's rather telling their "plan" tended to be 3-5 years, which is after the under performing players have ran down their contracts.

The final nail in the squirrels coffin

Liverpool chairman Tom Werner has given his backing to manager Roy Hodgson but admits results must improve.

Hodgson has been under pressure for most of his five months at Anfield, with Liverpool winning only one of their first eight Barclays Premier League matches this season.

Things have improved since then but Saturday's 3-1 defeat by Newcastle at St James' Park was another low and extended their record of only one away win this season.

Speaking on a phone-in on LFC TV on Monday night, Werner said: "We just got here, Roy got here shortly before us. Nobody, least of all Roy, was happy with our performance last weekend.

"We have to perform better, especially on the road. We believe in what Roy is doing and we certainly feel like the performance has to improve, and he'd be the first to say that."

Werner and new owner John Henry, who bought the club through New England Sports Ventures in October, have been welcomed by Reds fans for bringing to an end the unpopular reign of fellow Americans Tom Hicks and George Gillett.

The future of Anfield is one of the key issues for the new executives, who are weighing up the pros and cons of a move to a new ground versus redeveloping the current stadium.

"We certainly feel the need to do something," continued Werner. "Our intention is to increase our revenue so we can put put the best possible squad together.

"We're hard at it, we've had a lot of meetings and we are moving forward with various options. It's too early to go in one direction or another in terms of whether or not to build a new stadium or refurbish Anfield, but we are making progress."

There have been reports a groundshare with Everton could be an option but Henry insisted that would be a non-starter if it did not have the support of the fans.

The Boston Red Sox owner also addressed the issue of spending in the January transfer window, calling Liverpool's form over the last year "unacceptable".

"We're actively looking at it," he said. "We don't quite know what the situation's going to be in January. It's our first transfer window and it's something we've been studying day and night.

"There's no doubt the play that has gone on this season, and for the last half of last season, is unacceptable for Liverpool to accomplish what it wants to accomplish.

"We're in sync with the fans with regard to what it's going to take for this club going forward."

Hodgson, meanwhile, today revealed his anger with Liverpool's showing at St James' Park and challenged his players to become stronger physically and mentally.

He told the club website: "I was saddened and certainly angry with our performance because in recent weeks we have shown we are capable of playing good football and we were looking like a very solid and strong unit.

"We've had quite a long get-together with the team and everyone agreed with me that it was a performance way below our best and we can't afford those type of performances.

"We know we have to improve our performances away from home. There is an element of confidence, we can't deny that, but basically I don't think we've been strong enough physically and strong enough mentally away from home."

when they talk about value and being overpaid i dont think it automatically means that the biggest wages are too much or they wont spend big they are looking at value

for instance messi for £50m is value (they wont do that obviously) but its to illustrate value

PFK for anything represents no value.

I was thinking about this. I dunno about anyone else, but if it was me, of course i'd be watching. Who really wouldnt? No brainer.

And then onto the next point - surely anyone with a shred of dignity and pride, having seen a scathing attack on themselves like that, would have the ****ing dignity and integrity to walk away.

But now, he stays. Another reason to hate the ****er.

Read elsewhere that he apologised to the girl taking his call for mis-leading her!
I saw a dead fish on the pavement and thought "what did you expect?"

He mainly slagged off Hodgson, pointed to his awful CV and emphasised how he isnt equipped to be LFC manager.

I dont think he mentioned rafa specifically, but he pointed out that we beat Newcastle 5-1 the last time we played there, with a distinct air of 'that is what we expect, not a 3-1 defeat'.

Well they didnt say it, but he said "I have to apologise to the lady on the phone" because he obviously said his question was something different to what he said when he got on air - that's probably why he was ****ting his keks
