    Cole?

This has started already, and has nothing to with whether some players are paid too much or not. If some or not living up to their value, I'm sure they will be moved on.

I think they are identified where to make the biggest impacts first, and none of us knows how that will be manifested.

It is to do with players being overpaid

They believe a players wages should chart the players career

Start off low then rise to a peak level during the peak of their career and that as they start to wane so their wages reflect that

probably, though i suppose it depends what you look at in part Cole is paid more becasue it was a "free" but he isnt representing value at the moment.

i agree but do there wages not plateau at worst rather than fall?

i suppose in the model they want to introduce you will ship them out get a good fee and invest in the replacements.

Those calls were obviously vetted. Nice lady commenting on how lovely and personal the stadium tour was. Some dickhead stating how Roy needs more time. A few people just wanting to hear themselves say something on telly. This should have been a proper Q&A session with passionate fans expressing their true feelings, it felt so sanitised. I was quite pissed off with it, apart from Jeremy and the bloke who asked whether the owners realised the enormity of the task ahead everyone else was just so bloody nice. LFC.TV should just not bother in future, completely pointless.

Is that against the general trend though?

The thing that will gripe about Cole is the wages

Its mega money whether it is free or not

I think they expect the wages to fall

Remember reading somewhere how one of their ageing star players at the Red Sox was earning lets say $100,000 per week he wanted a 5 year extension at $150,000 per week, they settled on $120 K for 2 years and when that contract expired he signed a further 3 or 4 year extension at $70K per week

Probably BUT the trend is an old one based on a time when players were rewarded with lucrative contracts for loyalty when they were coming to the end of their careers

                That imo has to change

Carraghers deal was a major gripe with the new owners both the timing and financial details of it

That is only part of it.

There is a bigger picture with lots of components, this being one of them.
                  Oh I don't know.

yeah i agree but it may be if we had paid what people thought would be a market rate for him then his wages are not that high at all. Just saying that sometimes you need to go under the surface and am sure they will take everything into account in one way or another.

in terms of the model of players wages going down at the end then i can see the arsenel way of one year contracts after a certain age or moving players on when they can get a good fee and get a good replacement.

This is the point you see.

People only tend to look at transfer fees, be that net spend or whatever. People forget about things like wages, agents fees and pay offs to get people of the books.

Kop owners fail to shield Hodgson from fans fury

Published 23:00 13/12/10 By Mike Walters

Liverpool owner John W Henry rattled Roy Hodgson with a warning shot about “unacceptable” results last night.

As Anfield militants peppered the club’s new American power brokers with calls to axe Hodgson, Henry provided his under-fire manager little shelter from the crossfire.

In a live phone-in on *Liverpool’s in-house TV channel, Henry and chairman Tom Werner were left in little doubt about the grievances stacking up against their manager after Saturday’s derisory 3-1 defeat at Newcastle.

The hapless Hodgson had earlier acknowledged the *chatroom rage by staging a long inquest into the shambles on Tyneside, which left the Reds with a pathetic five points from a possible 27 away from home this season.

Liverpool’s next four games – at home to his old club Fulham, away at Blackpool and an Anfield double header with Wolves and Bolton – will give Hodgson a chance to avert a full-blown crisis.

But Henry, the Boston Red Sox magnate who ousted hated cowboys Tom Hicks and George Gillett in a £300million takeover two months ago, offered only qualified support for Hodgson – and ominously spoke of handing Kop legend Kenny Dalglish a “more substantive role” at the club.

Henry said: “There’s no doubt about it that this season and the second half of last season was unacceptable for *Liverpool, and we are in sync with the fans for what it’s going to take going forward.

“It doesn’t take a lot of time for the club to go downhill but it takes time to rebuild, and over the last two years there have been some short-term decisions which have really hurt the club.

“It’s up to us to turn the tide, but we are in it for the long term.

“We see this as an *opportunity to return the club to where it was 20 years ago.

“Where we are at this point is not acceptable, but when I say rebuilding I mean building for the top of the table. That’s going to be really difficult to do this year and a real *challenge next year as well.”

Of Dalglish, the club *ambassador who enjoyed widespread support for a second spell in charge until Hodgson was appointed in the summer, Henry added: “We actually met a couple of times to talk about things.

“He needs to have a more substantive role within the club and that’s something we are working on with (director of football strategy) Damien Comolli.”

Werner said: “We had a lovely dinner with Kenny, his wife Marina and his son Paul – I understood about half of what he said, and I just nodded when I couldn’t understand.

“But we know what he means to this club, and we would be well-served with his spirit and tradition. We believe in what Roy is doing, and we certainly feel the performances have to improve.”
Thanks very much for being ‘This Mornings’ Farmer’

Kenny must have been pissed real quick. The thought of roy and LFC together is enough to drive anyone to the drink

That's good news, if we play poorly in our next few games, they will have no choice but to replace him with Daglish in a temporary role as Manager until the end of the season.

The only reason they aren't slating Roy too much is because if they were to say they weren't supporting him, or backing him, it would make them look bad. They are handling it perfectly.

Roy will be out if we don't start playing much better from now on. Simple.
