I dont see it mate, unfortunately.

What's the difference between not getting a result against Fulham and not getting one against Newcastle?

Or even Blackpool at home, for that matter.

If such a bad result was going to cost him, surely there's been plenty of other opportunities already.

And also, i have to say - from what John Henry said, it doesnt sound like a new CEO is particularly imminent either.

So, what i'm hearing now about this is that our owners said results need to improve but that Hodgson WON'T be sacked.

Is that really what they said ? (No time to go through the whole interview now).

They gave no promises about Roys future.

And to say 3-5 yrs before we can win silverware...well...bye bye Torres.
Henry didn't say this. He gave this time frame for when we would hopefully be the best team in the country (ie winning the PL). I'm sure they, like us are hoping to win trophies before then.

Reading this you'd have to say Roy is now under real pressure - just taken a snippet of the conversation from JWH and TW but using the words unacceptable and immediate improvement are surely a threat of a giant red hot poker being used on Roys backside if he doesn't sort this out and soon - these guys are no mugs

TW: We understand where the caller is coming from. We saw Roy today, and we saw the tape of Roy. And we do expect immediate improvement. Our intention is to add to the squad and improve the quality of the match. I hear where the caller is coming from – we are sympathetic to it. We have to attack this with our reasoned judgement. Not do anything precipitous that is based on any one result.

JWH: We have had great success in trying to keep the organisation on the same page. We’re on the same page. I thought we were making significant progress. Even at Tottenham I thought we should have won that game. And if we had played like that for the rest of the season we would win. There is no doubt about it – the play that has gone on this season has been unacceptable. The results have been unacceptable. It’s down to us to take responsibility for that.

Thanks guys. Have had time to listen to most of it now.

Mebbe, but I was also a little concerned about how he thought we shouldve beaten Spuds with that performance. It was hardly like when we lost there 2 years back yet dominated them completely.
                      3rd place. Worst champions ever.

No but Maxi and Torres should have put us 3 up before the break - they didn't and obviously once we get to the 2nd half it's conceed possession and backs against the wall football, hanging on to what we've got which as we all know works a treat!

The thing that I found more encouraging than anything was Henry's use of the phrase "in sync with the fans". He used it a number of times in regards to discussions about Roy

IF the owners truley are "in sync with the fans" then Roys days are very much numbered
Bob Paisley - "This club has been my life. I'd go out and sweep the street and be proud to do it for Liverpool if they asked me to."

I didn't listen to the phone-in but, from what I've read of it, I don't think NESV have said much wrong so far. I wish they'd replace Hodgson with a good manager but I don't know who that would be. Maybe there isn't anyone around at the moment. I'm certainly still willing to give them time to come good on taking the club forward even though that could mean we're saddled with Squirrel Nutkin for the foreseeable.

As for everything else, they're damping down expectation and, I think, being fairly respectful both to the fans, the club and the truth (e.g. Henry's correction of Werner's slip about last season/second half of the season). They were never going to issue an ultimatum to Hodgson via a fans phone-in.

I also think the charge that LFC is still Pravda is way off the mark. I think it was justifiable towards the end of Purslow's tenure as MD but the fact so many critical callers got through yesterday proves it's no longer a valid charge. Anyone who remembers soviet-era Pravda would recognise that no criticism was ever allowed.
                            .
Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

May the Lord bless this post.

To be fair, as much as I despise the man, you cant expect them to ignore everything that might be positive. It was decent enough and we should have had that game won.

They did say Newcastle wasnt good enough on the flip side of that. He got a bit of a bollocking overall really which was a nice surprise.
