Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

May the Lord bless this post.

Stop avoiding the question below- this is about your face, not Dan(e)'s.
A genetic abnormality makes it impossible for me to give Neil any credit whatsoever, my doctors have told me that if i do i will literally spontaneously combust, and i know its selfish but i really don't want that to happen.

In responce to dp, I don't think Rafa coming back is a realistic notion. But he is attainable unlike the other top class managers available.

As for what people meant by saying Yes they do want him back....... I think if we started a poll with a list of managers it is unlikely 70% would vote for Rafa, though of course that would depend on who the other options were!

If I was to chose from any manager likely to be available in the summer, Mourinho would be a good shout. Probably not ideal though as his vision seems to be short term. After him, I've always liked the idea of Louis Van Gaal. Not sure how realistic he is. Then there are the next wave of would be top managers. Klopp, Villas Boas, Coyle and Deschamps. Below those I'd list the likes of Quique sanchez Flores, Jorge Jesus, managers of that ilk.

There are plenty of options. All likely a step up on Roy, all have question marks. Be that on commitment to long term (Mourinho) or whether they are the real deal or a flash in the pan (Coyle). I don't see any guarantees. But I do see plenty of promising options.

Personally it's unlikely Rafa would be my number one choice. But he'd definitely be on my final 3 shortlist. I think that'd apply to many other people. I think peoples choice of number 1 man they want would differ wildly, but many people would have him in their top 3.

Fwiw, if we sacked Roy tomorrow, and then someone offered me one of Villas Boas, Van Gaal or Benitez as manager, I'd snatch their hands off.
              Forwards.......

it's not about how much you suck.

it's more to do with how great i am.

Voted yes. Never wanted out of the club on the back of one bad season, and would be overjoyed to see him come back.

He's days in Italy are clearly numbered, like has been mentioned there is no way he would work away from his family.

It's a small dream at the moment, but everyday lately I have felt the glimmer of hope getting brighter, would be over the moon to see it break that he is back where he belongs.

                        No.

I really don't think I could put up with all the inevitable bullcrap between our fans again. There's an awful lot of rose-tinted spec wearing going on these days, the last year or so of his tenure was horrible just for the constant bitching and divisions amongst people who are supposed to support the same team. I loved Rafa, he brought us some great times, and some pretty depressing ones too, but however we remember his time at Anfield we should never go back and neither should he.
I could not dig, I dared not rob:
Therefore I lied to please the mob.
Now all my lies are proved untrue
And I must face the men I slew.
What tale shall serve me here among
                        Mine angry and defrauded young?

fair post mate, nicely balanced as per usual.
