I really don't think I could put up with all the inevitable bullcrap between our fans again. There's an awful lot of rose-tinted spec wearing going on these days, the last year or so of his tenure was horrible just for the constant bitching and divisions amongst people who are supposed to support the same team.
At least now we're all unanimous about the manager, that's what we all aim for.
Aye it's much better now that all the fans are on the same side
Pfffffft, just because we have a muppet at the helm now doesn't change anything.
Its like saying New Labour were suddenly great just because the Tory-mare we have now is so wrong. Well they weren't and aren't.
Seriously, the last year or two has come very close to putting me off football altogether. I'm sick to the back teeth of all the ****, and if people weren't so myopic and didn't have such selective memories they'd remember that although Rafa brought us some great times, particularly in Europe, watching us play has been frequently painful for far longer than Roy Hodgson has been darkening our horizons. Lets not spoil the good memories, Roy needs to go and we need a fresh start, someone with new ideas to breathe new life into the club.
I could not dig, I dared not rob:
Therefore I lied to please the mob.
Now all my lies are proved untrue
And I must face the men I slew.
What tale shall serve me here among
Mine angry and defrauded young?

I thought most people came to the assumption that Rafa's appalling last year in charge wasn't totally all his fault though.
I'm sure all that anyone wants on here is success. I don't think it matters who the manager is. Even Roy and all the crap he's come out with, if he'd been getting results no one would have minded. Because if he'd been getting results no one could moan about him thinking small because it was working to get results. Instead people would be calling him a genius by keeping the pressure of the players.
It is a certainty that whoever we get in will not please everyone. And an even bigger one that if success doesn't come sooner rather than later, people will quickly start to lose their patience. But all this isn't such a bad thing. If we all agreed there'd be nothing to talk about. Luckily I've ncer come across one forum where this is the case.

If that's true then by the same standards Roy's appauling time in charge so far isn't totally his fault either.......
Look, I can produce posts going back years on this place from me in support of Rafa, and I meant every one of them, so I don't want or mean to sound like someone who didn't like the guy or support him when he was in charge. However some of the revisionist nonsense I read about him now in threads like this is easily as bad as some of the unnescessary bashing of him that went on back then, and ultimately I'm just sick and tired of the whole thing.

I hope you realise that dane being quicker off the mark than me is entirely down to the slowness of the machine I am currently posting sh*t on.
. Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

Do you see there as being a good 'unity' candidate out there?
I honestly don't think there is and I'm not sure that we don't need someone strong enough to put up with some level of disunity and face it down to do the right thing for the club.

In responce to dp, I don't think Rafa coming back is a realistic notion. But he is attainable unlike the other top class managers available.
As for what people meant by saying Yes they do want him back....... I think if we started a poll with a list of managers it is unlikely 70% would vote for Rafa, though of course that would depend on who the other options were!
If I was to chose from any manager likely to be available in the summer, Mourinho would be a good shout. Probably not ideal though as his vision seems to be short term. After him, I've always liked the idea of Louis Van Gaal. Not sure how realistic he is. Then there are the next wave of would be top managers. Klopp, Villas Boas, Coyle and Deschamps. Below those I'd list the likes of Quique sanchez Flores, Jorge Jesus, managers of that ilk.
There are plenty of options. All likely a step up on Roy, all have question marks. Be that on commitment to long term (Mourinho) or whether they are the real deal or a flash in the pan (Coyle). I don't see any guarantees. But I do see plenty of promising options.
Personally it's unlikely Rafa would be my number one choice. But he'd definitely be on my final 3 shortlist. I think that'd apply to many other people. I think peoples choice of number 1 man they want would differ wildly, but many people would have him in their top 3.
Fwiw, if we sacked Roy tomorrow, and then someone offered me one of Villas Boas, Van Gaal or Benitez as manager, I'd snatch their hands off.
Agreed with alot of this.
it would be a different story if we were voting on who we would actually want as manager rather than do we or do we not want Rafa back.
I still want Pellegrini and I dont go in for all this "who's available" malarkey.
We are Liverpool if we come knocking then The best managers would sit up and take notice, regardless of their current status, especially pellegrini. If we aren't a bigger fish than Malaga than we've fallen a long way.

It is a question of when, rather than if, Rafa Benitez`s tenure as Inter Milan coach is officially brought to an end in the coming days. The manner in which his spell in charge at the San Siro is formally concluded could end up being resolved by the lawyers in order to determine whether Benitez quits or is dismissed - along with the quantity or eligibility of any compensation.
It is true, as has been reported in the media today, that Rafa Benitez is currently on Merseyside and is enrolling his children at school in the area and it is where he intends to settle once his involvement with Inter is concluded.
He is deeply disappointed by his experience in Serie A where he found his role limited to that of simply a coach and although numerous signings were discussed – Mascherano, Kuyt, Lucas Leiva – he was frustrated that the club failed to deliver.
If I were to make an educated guess as to where Benitez will most likely end up after Milan, I would have to say that out of the three big European leagues, a return to the Premier League would suit him best and would be his preferred option.
