Its like saying New Labour were suddenly great just because the Tory-mare we have now is so wrong. Well they weren't and aren't.

Seriously, the last year or two has come very close to putting me off football altogether. I'm sick to the back teeth of all the ****, and if people weren't so myopic and didn't have such selective memories they'd remember that although Rafa brought us some great times, particularly in Europe, watching us play has been frequently painful for far longer than Roy Hodgson has been darkening our horizons. Lets not spoil the good memories, Roy needs to go and we need a fresh start, someone with new ideas to breathe new life into the club.

I honestly don't think there is and I'm not sure that we don't need someone strong enough to put up with some level of disunity and face it down to do the right thing for the club.
Perhaps not, and you may well be right on that Dave. However I reckon we'd see a relatively widespread level of unity at the moment behind anyone with a solid reputation who could come in, make it clear they understand the ethos and nature of the club, then would set about playing some decent football in a style that was enjoyable to watch and gave us some hope of a bright future.

        This is a tough one.
On the one hand he'd be a massive improvement on what we've got now.
On the other hand all the great memories can't hide the fact that I opposed the way we approached most games under Rafa - safety first, two DM's when only needing one, no real wingers etc.
I had hoped to see him get a real chance in Inter in terms of getting the money to build the team that he wanted to build - a chance he was never given in Valencia, here or apparently in Italy.
Taking him back would make us all compare this era with his first one - and more importantly so would the journalists who would love to attack him at any given chance because they know he is bound to react at same point...

So it's a no for me but it's with a bleeding heart because I still have the utmost respect for him and his way of sticking up for us

Not a chance. He's boring negative and plays not to lose rather than to win. The few times we have played good football under Hodgson is as good as the best we played under Benitez.
We need to forget about Benitez and hope we get a manager at Anfield who likes his teams to play attacking football. The type of football that i grew up watching.

Well guess again. I've been watching Liverpool for 40 years, and by watching ,
i mean paying to see them. I don't need other peoples opinions to hang onto, i form my own.

Did we though? We used to be masters in playing it about at the back for 5 minutes. I'm not trying to undermine our glorious past but at times we were deadly dull and ruthless in our pursuit of victory.

Bang on Mr. M. There's too much baggage associated with Rafa. We've had a fresh start off the pitch, now we need one on it.

I don't agree on that - under Benitez we did have a few spells with really beautiful football.
Under him I was never close to turning off the telly because even in the worst displays we at least were well organised and had a chance of grabbing a winner.
Under Roy I've actually missed a few European League games without too many tears because watching his team selection, his tactics and his old face is doing my head in
