Under Roy I've actually missed a few European League games without too many tears because watching his team selection, his tactics and his old face is doing my head in
Agree. At least when we lost under Rafa we looked like we had a clue and controlled games.

Rafa turned us into the most feared and respected team in european football.

No. i'm one of thousands who came out of Anfield more often than not thining , what a ****ing boring negative performance that was. Sorry you don't like someone who says things like he sees them. I like Benitez as a man, true gentleman but just too negative as a manager.

Take the sting out of the game, and control the tempo by making the opposition work. It wasn't all five-nil goal fests of champagne football; there was a lot of method in what we did.

Dont agree with that. Rafa did what he had to and the rewards were there. 2 european cup finals. top four finishes and regular spots in the latter stages of the CL. He also turned us into the most feared team in Europe. We hammered the mancs in their own back yard, hammered madrid, juve and beat Barca in their own turf.

@ Bulldog: I think you only have to look at his Valencia side to see how Rafa likes his team to play. Now that was beautiful football to watch. His side pressed all over the pitch and played some magical football.

He really wasn't that far away from producing that side at Anfield until lack of investment made the wheels come off. He didn't play to draw 0-0 at home to Stoke etc. He wanted to win. We just lacked players who could break the opposition down.

Now some posters will say that had Rafa been given support to get his first choice targets - Villa, Alves, Augero, etc.... - he would have had better players in his system capable of breaking the other sides down.

But I'm not going to say that. I'm going to say that I don't think Rafa invested the money he had as well as he could have. I'm going to say he made big errors in the transfer Market that cost him. But you know what? I'm also going to say this: What the **** does that matter anymore? He's not going to have complete freedom in the transfer Market if he comes back.

IMO, Rafa was always first class when it came to coaching a football team. But less great at identifying top talent. Well in the system lfc now employ, that sort of manager is spot on. Because we have someone picking out players, what we lack is someone to coach them.
                Forwards.......

As mentioned in a previous post I agree with you on that but in my view you're wrong in stating that the best under Roy equals the best under Rafa.

This season we have shown a bit of class against Villa and West Ham but their teams on the night were League 1 standard...

And I'm not counting Chelsea as a good game football wise - we outfought them, we didn't outplay them

I merely asked a question about your parentage; I didn't say I didn't like you - I'm sure you're a very nice man when somebody gets to know you.

I broadly agree with you. Rafa's reign was more often than not charcterised by a desire not to lose rather than a concerted attempt to win. I would classify the approach as pragmatic rather than negative though.

It's not enouigh for me. It's got to be about playing like Arsenal today and not the Arsenal George Graham had in the 80's. Or to be more precise, the football Kennys boys played.

you mean the arsenal that have won **** all for over 5 years and have a team made out of crate paper?

Sorry my apologies, i'll rephrase that. Sorry you don't like it when someone gives an opinion of Benitez which isn't to your liking.
