Have they? I don't know about that. I think there's a good chance the media are just picking up on all the negativity from the fans and putting two and two together, just as we are. The media aren't exactly novices at speculating in order to keep a story going.

The thing is you could be right but if you're guessing you can't unequivocally slag off the owners for the way they're behaving. That would be unfair.

Come on Neil, read the stories. Numerous newspapers all, on the very same day, ran the very same story with, barring one or two exceptions, the very same suggested replacements. Even a lot of the paragraphs read the same. They virtually copied out the press release word for word, all of them. Are you seriously suggesting that's a coincidence? - no chance.

Really? Leaking to the press like the way they have done is classless. Whilst we are all happy to read in the papers that Roy's tenures coming to a close, lets not forget many of us did not like the way our previous owners would feed the media with snippets here and there in an attempt to undermine Rafa. You can't have your cake and eat it. I don't want us to go down the route where our owners feed the media with info about our manager

I'm saying you can't slag them off for going behind the manager's back without some proof. As for the leak, who knows - maybe the leak came from an agent. And anyway, the idea that newspapers all having the same story proves anything is silly. You know they all copy each other and anything else they can find on the net. And it's well documented in the past that journos used to sit around, discussing the line.

It's not the supposition I'm disputing, it's the idea that proves they're duplicitous *******s which is what the post quoted by marcus seemed to me to be suggesting.

I agree, in all likelyhood they have leaked info to the media. And I agree that this is not the way to do things. We all keep harking on about the Liverpool Way - which is to conduct your business behind closed doors. Great. Fab. That's exactly what they were doing...

Then they suddenly find themselves on the defensive against fans on forums and phone ins who think that because there's no information in the public domain, they aren't listening to fans. They don't care. They don't have a clue about football.

As I said earlier. Prior to this leakage, they have conducted themselves with very well. Privacy has obviously been a big thing for them.

They have been forced into leaking this info as a way of appeasing the fans. It's a bloody shame if you ask me. I don't think there is room for the Liverpool Way in todays game. I really don't.

Seems I am being misunderstood so I apologies if I am not making myself clear...... I firmly believe they have leaked info so I would've preferred them not to have undermined the manager like that. I didn't like when it happened to Rafa and I don't like it now... I want Hodgson gone like yesterday but the way it's been played out in the media is amateur style.imo.

OK, let's assume you're right that they are actively searching for someone, which I also think is likely. So what would you rather they do?

Deny the speculation, so lying to everyone (and totally undermining the integrity when it comes out as it inevitably would)? Or deny the speculation and, to retain their integrity, stop actively searching for a replacement? Or confirm they're looking for a new manager, probably causing Hodgson to resign and sue for constructive dismissal, and losing control of the situation, having to appoint a replacement caretaker manager, risking unnecessary upheaval?

I'm not denying they're looking for someone - I hope they are. I do think though that to assume they're deliberately undermining the manager is way wide of the mark.
