Had a fairly good stint when Houllier was ill. I don't seem to remember any drop in the quality of football or results under him though I could be wrong. Manager of the Month award and remains the only Liverpool boss to win at the Riverside(I think?). Sure he had a spat with RF but I don't know how much you could read into that. Probably just a clash of personalities between the "old school" type of player and the modern "multi-millionare" footballer. I doubt Fowler was as blameless as he claimed in his book.I have one word to offer - honesty. I couldn't be devious if I tried. Joe Fagan.

We did better under Phil Thompson than we did under Houllier, he was in charge for a significant part of the season that we finished 2nd.

But if we keep him I reallyy fear tha we will get relegated or at least dragged into a relagation battle and that will be the end of Torres, SG, Reina,Kuyt and may a few others. We cannot afford to let this run on for another 4 days let alone 4 months.Originally posted by Resu View PostMy guess is the owners are willing to let this season pass, as long as we don`t get relegated. There are bigger issues to solve, as they see it. The stadium needs to get sorted, they need to set the non-sporting organization.
The fans will still there next season, so they`ll spend the next months getting the organization the way they want it. If this is done the club will make loads of cash as soon as the teams starts to perform.
There will be a shortlist of managers they want take the club forward. Unless one of these comes available now they`ll probably keep Hodgson for the rest of the season. They could, of course appoint a short term manager, but who competent would want that job? Kenny maybe, or Sammy Lee? There isn`t much point in appointing someone from outside the club now, if a new permanent manger comes in during the summer.
Hodgson is way out of his debt, but IMO there is no point in panic now and appoint someone else just to get rid of Hodgson.
The next manager has to be right one, and finding that one will take time. It's a prediction thread on a wish list.

None of them. Amazingly, during 5/6ths of Rafa's reign, all but one of those would've been bankers.Originally posted by alunevans View PostWhich of the following 6 games do you think are Liverpool bankers?
Liverpool v Bolton
Blackburn v Liverpool

Blackpool v Liverpool

Wolves v Liverpool
Are any of those games ones you feel with confidence that we will win?

But I think they want Kenny there long term and they believe if he was to take the managers job and fail that they wouldnt be able to continue employing him at the club in another capacity without it impacting on any subsequent managerOriginally posted by alunevans View Posti've thought the same to be honest.
people seem to be saying "but if kenny was in charge and was doing brilliantly it'd be a disaster."
can't make sense of that line of argument myself.Bob Paisley - "This club has been my life. I'd go out and sweep the street and be proud to do it for Liverpool if they asked me to."

A 50% win rate.
Seems a far off place at the moment.

I'd be happy for a Rafa comeback on a 6month contract and review at the end of the season. If, as some people suggest, some of our key players are more likely to sulk if Rafa comes back then again, in the short term this may not be such a good idea and if its not good in the short term then no need to rush into it. I have said before that I don't think Kenny is the man for the job. Describing him as an 'ideal candidate' I don't understand at all. He's been out of football for 10 years and was shockingly bad in his last 2 jobs. How you equate that with ideal I don't know.
I am clear that hodgson needs to go, I am confiddent we wont be relegated regardless. I am doubtfull that even if we got Hiddink/Mourinho in today that we would get in the top 4 this year. I don't think failure to get top 7 this year will suddenly mean that we can't sign any players that we already wouldn't be able to sign for being out of the top 4. So again I'll say that some of you are getting a bit over emotional about the situation and I am glad that the owners are not basing their administration of the club on such whimsies but are doing things in a considered and cold blooded fashion, entirely hidden from the media."that is my opinion and that is more important than what anyone else has to say about it" - Mr A.Fergusson, Oct 2011

True we can only dream of that, and the CL record lets him down but a prem win record of 58% and 2.04 points per game. Compare that to Hodgsons: 33% win record and 1.22 points per gameOriginally posted by Cormack74 View PostA 50% win rate.

I thought his Bolton team were quite good to watch actually (if not any good at winning). I'd like to see him given another shot somewhere but perhaps not with us, or at least not on the brink of the relegation zone.Originally posted by James P View PostI just did a little bit of sick in my mouth.

Give Segura the job until the end of the season. He won the league in Greece and know the squad and the players. He isn't exactly a rookie.
He is a better option than Dalglish IMO.Stop the cyberhate

from now on I will skip talking about our finances. That is a promise and will save myself from looking like a
