So how long a contract would you give him to start with?

Until the end of the season. If he is doing well then NESV will just have another option when they decide who they want in charge in the summer but it won't be a problem giving him his old job back or the assistant managers job.

I don't see why Kenny, especially having failed, would impact another manager, especially as they are deliberately building a collegiate model with the likes of Commoli impacting every manager, present or future.

Whoever comes in will be well aware of the structure, and a failed Kenny won't impact on anyone who is happy to work under a powerful Commoli.

It's extremely worrying because, as the Owners have been at pains to tell us, they know absoultely **** all about football, and hence would not know the difference between 'good football' and 'bad football'. It's a pretty strange affair that the two main men, John Henry and Tom Werner, are coming to football in their 60's and both need a crash-course in what it's all about, and have to rely on advisors to tell them what's what, with no innate understanding or preferences to guide them.

Their major appointment to date, and it's a pretty significant one, seems to have been recruited because he is a mate of one of John Henry's mates.

The owners don`t actually have to know much about football. What they need to know is how to recruit personnel that does.

How can they discriminate between candidates when they know **** all themselves, and have no personal preferences or philosphies other than a seemingly let's-copy-Arsenal approach (in terms of recruitment policy at least)?

I think that Lecter and Operation have been making this same point more or less. One of the biggest problems with a caretaker is what to do at the end of the season, particularly if they are someone already part of the setup at the club.

I certainly think that taking someone from the youth setup is needlessly short termist. We need continuity and coaching talent at that level to ensure a better future in terms of producing our own players.
