Any manager coming here would have to be able to deal with the pressures of managing a club like ours. Rangnick seems to be very able, but every risk he takes at a small club wouldn't be as exacerbated as here in Liverpool. Our next manager will have to get some form of improvement going quickly, as a form of signal towards a brighter future. This will buy time, as in Benitez when he won the Champions League in his first season, which was way above what was expected of him and gave him the necessary confidence to instil his ideas.
Hodgson's mistake was basically to allow himself some comfort zone amidst all the back patting from his friends in the media. He never did his homework and never tried to see this job as a step up. He was too good in his own eyes.
The owners will take their time and rightly so. The moment they identify and get their first choice target tied up, Hodgson will be gone.
