Meireles usually plays as an all-around central or defensive midfielder.
After having grown to prominence in the Portuguese first division with Boavista FC, Meireles was bought in the summer of 2004 by another Porto side, powerhouse F.C. Porto.[1] After just 13 league appearances in his debut campaign, he eventually became first-choice in central midfield, alongside Argentine Lucho González.
In the 2006–07 UEFA Champions League, Meireles scored in a deflected volley against Chelsea in a 1–1 draw at the Estádio do Dragão,[2] as Porto went on to lose the tie 3–2 on aggregate. The following season, in the league's second-round, on 25 August 2007, he netted the game's only goal in another home win, this time against Sporting Clube de Portugal.[3]
As the northerners won back-to-back domestic leagues, Meireles only missed four games combined, netting 18 goals that season, and adding the 2008–09 domestic cup. On July 5, 2010, he was linked with a move to Premier League champions Chelsea, with the Blues reportedly prepared to offer £15 million,[4] but nothing came of it.

. Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.
