    Today

Played it along the ground far more, instead of hoofing it. And also started a lot of our play further up the park.

    Agger started.

    Coincidence?

IMO no, he's absolutely crucial to our play and if the Bodge is allowed to sell him, i'll ****ing smother the old git's head into a pit of ****.

Before the Wolves game when talking about `first choice' players coming back from injury Roy mentioned Agger as the only one left to come back. Not sure whether that is a change in thinking or whether we have been misinterpretting his attitude/believing too much paper talk.

I thought we looked to play a lot more football too.

And I wondered what Roy must have been thinking when Agger went marauding up the right wing in the first half. He is exactly the calm ball playing centre back we need to get the rest of team playing well and not resorting to hit and hope football.

You just wonder what is going on. Has Roy been told he is off, are the players going to play with a bit more freedom. **** knows.

I enjoyed the win for the first time in ages, and then started to worry that it might give the jowly one a few more games. Get shot off jowly tomorrow, bring in Kenny or Rafa or whoever really and then see where we are in the summer.

      * also without PFK we looked a lot more solid at left back. So of the players Roy signed, PFK didn't make the squad. Poulsen non playing sub, and Merieles went off arguably to game changing effect with Gerrards performance. Top stuff Royston. Top stuff.

It's not a coincidence and it doesn't matter anyway. Fabio also started which must have helped. We also had actual wide players on the wings, again that probably helped.

Anyhow, Roys a dead man walking. He'll be gone by the next game. Anfield voiced their concerns against Wolves and then crucially voted with their feet against Bolton.

        Bye bye Roy.
        Forwards.......

I think its not just Agger but Aurelio also. We actually had two defenders who will play the ball instead of hoof. No coincidence at all

the problem for our next manager is that those two players who make such a difference are not fit very often.

              thats a huge worry

I think so. Though it all depends on having someone to step in. If Kenny wants it then he's got it by the looks of things and after seeing the attendance level it comes as no suprise.

There's never an ideal time to sack a manager mid season when it comes to preparing for games. But with Blackburn and Man Utd away coming up now is as good a time as any. We're out the cup if Roy stays on, we all know that.

Just read the Mirror article and see it mentions Phil Thompson.

It has been noted that the past two games Thommo has been at Anfield instead of on the SSN panel for their version of final score. He doesn't normally miss those shows. Could be something on the Mirtor article with regards to the assistant role to Kenny.

Fair point about Thommo having missed the last two Soccer Saturday shows

I really hope it's done before Wednesday. Major input of optimism is always helpful when you're heading upto dreary Blackburn

Agger is our best defender. Which is why I fully expect he'll get sold.

I think Agger and Aurelio certainly helped, as in terms of technical ability they are both much more cultured and technically gifted players than Kyriakos and Konchesky, they actually want the ball and to want to make passes rather than hoof the ball. I think this makes a difference because it encourages the midfielders to make space and do the same.

The other major positive was that we were playing higher up the pitch and pressing the ball in the second half, which makes a huge difference and allowed allowed us to control the game, something we rarely do under Roy. That said the performance still wasn't great but it was much better than we've put in for the majority of the season.

As I said that was the case for the second half, when we were already losing so I'm not sure this represents a change of policy from Roy, I think it was more a case of what we had to do in order to get anything out of the game. We'll have to see how we approach the next game. I think it's clear that Roy is wanting to rest players, Gerrard wouldn't have played so long if it weren't for Meireles' injury, and I suspect that Agger and Aurelio having just come back from injury won't start on Wednesday, plus that is an away game so I expect a much more negative mentality than we saw in the second half yesterday.

Positives though are that Gerrard and Torres looked much more confident than they have for ages so hopefully they can carry that into the next few games and we can get some good results
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.
