Im slightly ashamed by some of the fans of this club and how they have spoken about him. He is being spoken about like he was the anti Christ. He wasnt, he was just a foolish manager who thought he could come to the top table. All the bile should stop

I for one am sad. I thought it inevitable that Benitez was let go and was not conivinced that Kenny was the man for the job. I took the view that it would be difficult to sell the club whilst we had a manager who wanted to spend large amounts of money, so we needed a manager who could get more out of the existing squad; and I thought Hodgson had done that at Fulham. I wanted a manager who would be more media friendly than Rafa was at the end and Hodgson had been that at Fulham.

I have thought that a portion of LFC fans and people on this site have been plain wrong and way out of order in some of the things they have said about his record and him personally.

Nevertheless I agree he has performed incredibly poorly and antagonised players and fans. He just could not handle the job and had to go. I don't like LFC being talked of as a sacking club but he has made it necessary.

In my view his performance has been mo poor and he has been so wilfully perverse in the things he has said that, although I think I am very fair minded, I still don't think he deserve our thanks. Sorry Roy.

His record at Fulham shows that he took them from 7th two seasons ago to 12th last season with just one away win.

As I said in a earlier post, there has been a lot of rubbish spoken about Hodgson and your comment is a perfect example. He joined them at the end of December 2007 when they were 19th. That season they finished 17th. The season after they finished 7th. The season after they reached the Europa Cup final but, because the squad was not strong enough to compete in two competitions (Greening and Kamara anyone) and were having to nurse two players suffering from long-term injuries (Zomora and Duff), on getting to the knock out stage of the Europa Cup he played a lot of reserves in the league and they ended up 12th. And for most of the latter part of that season - even when the reseves were playing - they played a better quality of football than Liverpool were playing dring that time.

I am not saying he should still be LFC manager - of course he shouldn't - but I am saying a lot of rubbish has been and is being spoken about his credentials for the LFC job.

I dont think we should try and live up to our reputation by pretending now that everything was fine and that he handled himself well. Our reputation is that we are honest and fair.

And being honest and fair, he acted without class from virtually the moment he was appointed. Slagging off the previous boss at every opportunity, lying about matters (like claiming Kenny had been excluded from Melwood), criticising individual players (Cole, Torres, Babel, Pacheco) to try and deflect attention from himself, refusing to defend Torries against Ferguson's attacks, having a go at the fans were just some of the things he did that brought no credit to him as a man or as a manager.

Even in his statement today, he was still bleating about not having the chance to re-shape the squad and how he was able to work with only "some" world-class players.

Mark my words, in the next 18 months, we'll hear a lot about how he wasnt given a chance at the club. Many will be blamed for this outcome but never him.

I dont hate him. I have never said I want him to die or any of that nonsense. But I also dont think we should pretend that he deserves anything other than his healthy pay-off.

IMO managers should have performance contracts, if they do not meet the agreed level, they should not get paid healthy pay offs for being sacked
