I thought he was given a rather weak contract so that new owners could make the necessary changes if and when they wished.

If he is taking a large pay off Purslow should be relegated from the directoras box at Anfield for incompetence, taking into consideration the long contract he handed Jamie as well.

I seem to remember the amount of 3mil pound being mentioned at the time
Me, I’m either planning a holiday or I’m on one.

Hodgson will be handed a £7.5m pay-off from Liverpool despite only spending six months in the job. (News of the World - requires subscription).

Roy Hodgson axed by e-mail as King Kenny takes charge at Liverpool

ROY HODGSON’S sacking provoked fury last night after it emerged that the doomed Kop boss was fired by an e-mail sent from the club’s owners in America.

Hodgson was at his Merseyside home on Friday night when he was alerted to a message sent by Anfield owner John Henry and Tom Werner, the chairman of New England Sports Ventures.

The e-mail informed Hodgson, 63, they no longer had faith in his ability to take the club forward and that he was being relieved of his duties.

Hodgson alerted his legal team and immediately began the process to agree a £3million compensation deal which was sealed late yesterday morning.

But it is understood senior figures in the League Managers Association are furious at the way Hodgson was sacked.

And they believe the shabby manner of his dismissal was disrespectful to an experienced manager of his standing.

LMA chief executive Richard Bevan has refused to comment, but it is believed the bosses’ organisation is furious at Liverpool’s treatment of Hodgson.

It is being claimed Hodgson didn’t want to resign and believed he should carry on despite a fall-out with the fans and a run of poor results culminating in festive period defeats by Wolves and Blackburn.

And Hodgson had insisted to close friends he wanted to conduct his Friday afternoon press conference as normal but was instead told by club officials it was being scrapped.

Hodgson was restricted to a small slot on Liverpool’s in-house TV channel to preview today’s FA Cup third round tie with Manchester United at Old Trafford even though the club’s top brass had already decided to axe him and put Kenny Dalglish in charge until the end of the season.

I also understand close associates of Hodgson are furious that after leaving a secure job at Craven Cottage he was abandoned by the club’s hierarchy when results went wrong and left an isolated, lonely figure with no support from above.

Top Continental bosses – Borussia Dortmund’s Jurgen Klopp, ex-Hoffenheim boss Ralf Rangnick and Porto’s Andre Villas-Boas – are leading contenders to become the next full-time Anfield boss after Dalglish next summer while Dutch legend Frank Rijkaard is available after his sacking by Galatasaray.

Agree mate. I could slag him off, but there's been too much I'll feeling at the club since the fateful summer the old yanks stole the Keane money. I'm tired and just wanna move on in a positive way.

Putit this way, I wouldn't be gutted if he gets sacked from a lesser club in a few months too though. Would burst the media bubble big time.
              3rd place. Worst champions ever.

OK, three million sounds about right, but if this article is true than Roy intended to keep going knowing how everyone felt about that, he has only himself to blame IMO. Maybe a phonecall would have been the proper thing to do though

I really dislike that organization, the clubs don't exist for the managers

Have a look in the People today there are a few Liverpool/sacking of Roy articles there. Here are a few of the headlines:

Sir Alex Ferguson condemns Roy Hodgson witch-hunt as ’unreal’

Blame Rafa Benitez not Roy Hodgson for Kop chaos - by Chris Waddle

                    And the best one:

'Sad' Roy Hodgson clings to his England dream

Yeah and they're always quiet when one of their precious managers leaves a club in the lurch to move on elsewhere.

                          Respect!!

FFS the man deserves zero respect for making an absolute shambles of the job from day one. Then compounding that by blaming everyone but himself, before the ultimate of insults, blaming us.

Thanks for **** all Roy,you nearly destroyed us.You get nothing from me,you didn't even leave in a dignified manner, you had to be pushed and still moaned about not being given time and money in your leaving statement.

                          respect my arse

The LMA are totally hypocritical. For one thing, you didn't hear them bleating when Roy dumped Fulham to come to us. So they can **** off really, one of there star pupils got elevated above his station and it hasn't worked out.

                            Boo hoo.

He should have been sacked over the tanoy system at Blackburn last week let alone by Email. Thankfully he's gone but he still make my blood boil.
It's a prediction thread on a wish list.

this thread is about us fans and magnanimity. its not about how much respect roy does or doesn't deserve.

let it go, he's in the past, we're moving forward. he tried, he couldnt do it, no hard feelings. nobodys asking us to like him, thank him, remember him fondly or anything. what does need to happen tho is the end to all the 'cuntish cunty cunt' abuse. that really has to stop as we have nothing to vent about any more. its over.

yes he's the worst manager in living memory but its about us becoming the Liverpool FC of old again. rise above it and move forward folks.
