@honigstein - UCL match Debrecen v Fiorentina (3-4, 2009) named among rigged games in German court case against two big fixers.

I cant remember exactly, but i'm presuming those 3 points for fiorentina were decisive in putting them through and eliminating us?

Getting knocked out of the CL hammered the teams confidence.

Controversial but IMO had we qualified we'd have qualified again for this year and Rafa would still be here.............

It's incredible how quick we fell from grace. The year before we competed in an epic semi final CL match against Chelsea, trounced Madrid, destroyed Manure and finished second in the league. Incredible.

But the Debrecen v Fiorentina game wasnt the last group game.

Had Fiorentina not won this game, it might have made our position stronger and given us more motivation in our own games.

This is what makes it crucial. If that game was indeed fixed, then it could have had a major bearing on the outcome of the group.

If they lose that game their is a massive confidence swing in all four teams. Debrecen get a boost before they play the Viola away. LFC and Lyon see a major rival drop points and believe their chances of qualifying go up. Fiorintinas confidence drops knowing they have dropped three points against a team that LFC, Lyon and Fiorintina all believed they would need to get 6 points off to qualify.
