This same side, playing with confidence, will be worlds apart from what we are now. Not saying we dont need to freshen up the squad and strengthen, but i dont think we have as many as 6 regular first teamers who need to be shipped out. We could ship out a couple maybe and bring in 2 or 3.

To my mind, when i've seen players deliver the goods over a period of time, that tells me they are capable and good enough, because i've seen them prove it. For the same reason as why i knew, despite the ****e performances, that someone like Torres is plenty good enough.

Unless you're taking age being a problem or legs going, i think when players have proven it in the past, i consider poor form to be just that - form.
That's fair enough mate I suppose I just don't like it when people don't appear to be able to have their own opinions, especially when they dare to suggest players or the team aren't good enough.

I agree that confidence will make a difference to a degree, but I do also think we need to freshen up the first team with up to 5 players, and believe a number of our players are shot, mentally and confidence is not going to make a great deal of difference to those particular players.

I also don't think that this group of players can deliver the goods over a period of time. They, in the past have only been able to get going after falling a goal behind and now that they have started to get the first goal they seem more likely to concede an equaliser and then fall apart rather than get the second goal. This is another reason for needing to bring in a good number of fresh faces, to get rid of that lack of confidence that I don't believe a certain number of our players will get back while playing for us.

This is of course only my opinion that I have thought about over quite some time, so no knee jerk reaction here

The transformation in Torres under Dalglish is remarkable. Hodgson was ruining him but now he has a manager who he can believe in.

You've just agreed with what I said Craig. I thought he would be up for it and have an impact in this match. No I don't think he's a weekly starter for us but he can do a job as a squad player.

Some of the comments, when I suggested he'd start, were OTT IMO.

That's fair enough. For what it's worth, i wouldnt have started him and i keep that view even now. Would've been Aurelio LB for me, Johnson right mid and Kuyt perhaps off Nando, or left, with Maxi off Nando.

I wouldn't have started with GJ at LB either. In fact I wouldn't play him at the back ever again. I'd try him at RM and if he did OK I'd keep him otherwise I'd listen to offers. I think Kenny needs to try to "recycle" before he's allowed to spend. Try a few different scenarios and then he can say to the owners that he's exhausted every option with the players he's got and therefore we need a striker, a LB , a CB and a wide player.

                          Just a thought

In a parrallel universe Hodgen had his press conference and said this on Agger: -

"At half time the sports scientist people told me that Daniels stomach had turned 97 times during the first 45 minutes and that after 100 turns their was a high probability of a nauseating reaction.

They recommended that the best course of action would be to substitute him.

I decided that the best thing to do was to follow the advice of the sports scientist people and substitute him.

Unfortunately we then concended 2 early goals in the second half and as you know failed to recover and went on to lose 5-1.

This maybe made it look like I made a bad decision to substitute Daniel but it was the Sports Scientist people.

But full credit to Everton who fully deserved the 3 points. It was always going to be difficult to get anything from them. As you know Anfield was their original home ground so we were at the disadvantage from the start really weren't we?

Personally I've always spouted nauseating **** and it's never affected my performance and I thought the meat and potato pies a Bloomfield road, where we valiently lost 4-0 on Wednesday, were divine."

At this point the press conference came to an end and the bemused journalist were unable to ask Roy when he was going to get sacked.

                            Hope that clears everything up

                                From the King himself

One player that stood out for Dalglish was Jay Spearing, who replaced Christian Poulsen in midfield.

Asked to explain his surprise decision to include the Wirral-born youngster, the caretaker boss said: "I was on EST the other day and some geezer, SB I think ? suggested I start him and I thought, you know, he's right. Such a visionary poster. He had a game in midweek with the reserves and did particularly well. Daniel Pacheco did also, and that's why he was on the bench.

"Wee Jay can be really proud of his performance today. Steven Gerrard might not get in now!

"Honestly, I don't care where they are born. You can't get a game of football because of your birthplace. You get a game of football because of the way you play. If he had been born in Scotland he still would have played.

"If a local lad can come in to play we're delighted to have him - but they won't get preference and it won't be held against them either."
