Our biggest problem is confidence, it's about as strong as wet tissue paper right now, as soon as we concede, we collapse. But we fought back well today.

As it happens, us being 3-0 up at HT wouldnt have been flattering, we ripped them to pieces first half and but for Torres hitting the post with one effort and having Howard pull of a good save for another, we'd have had the game won before the 2nd half.

Everton basically played for 20 minutes today and they got their 2 goals from that period of time.

Questions need to be asked defensively, and it's poor that we can concede 2 goals from only being put under any real pressure for 20 minutes, but it again goes back to confidence, Skrtel's a nervous wreck and that'll never be a great situation to be defending from. Agger's injury didnt help matters and Johnson wasnt great again. Likewise with him, the lack of confidence is ****ing tangible, he almost looks scared to receive the ball at times, dreadful to see.

But that was our best performance under Kenny so far and the best we've seen overall since we beat Chelsea IMO.

Plenty of positives and just a mad period of 8 minutes cost us 2 points.

Kelly was excellent, as was Torres first half. Meireles had a very good game, as did Lucas, and Spearing held his own.

Looking forward to Wolves next weekend.
Why is it that people who suggest that we need a major overhaul are doom mongering kneejerkers that have become a parody of themselve?

Why can't they be people who believe, for themselves, that they have watched the team go down hill over the last 18 months and also believe, for themselves, that the team needs a major overhaul because a number of the players are just not good enough?

Maybe they are not kneejerkers and people who don't agree with them are just rose tinted glass wearing fans or maybe just maybe we have differing opinions that when posted on here shouldn't result in other people calling them.

But he's ****e and no one wanted him to start did they ?

As I said in the lead up, I'd pick him for this one game and see how he went.
Me, I’m either planning a holiday or I’m on one.

Fair enough, just thought Everton were their for the taking and yes we should have been more than 1 up by half-time...ended up costing us.
Some of the football first half was great to see in fairness...we attacked with a bit of aggression and urgency for a change and Torres was running them ragged.

Big worry was after they got their 2 goals, we never looked like getting back in it until Maxi did well to win the penalty and Kuyt put it away.

We're a team lacking confidence and coming out of the 'car crash' that was Roy Hodgson. The sooner we're over this, the better. Signs that we'll be are definitely there under Kenny.
          Are we winning?

Dont see any difference between Poulsen & Spearing

The opposition have played the ball round both of them in the last two games

Sorry to piss on your chips, but that is FACTUALLY incorrect.

              This seasons stats...

              With Carra:

              Played 22 Won 10 Drawn 6 Lost 6 Goals For 29 Goals Against 22 GD +7

              Without Carra:

              Played 12 Won 3 Drawn 4 Lost 5 Goals For 15 Goals Against 16 GD -1

So let's stop peddling your agenda-driven, factually incorrect nonsense.

I think we played a very good first half today, bar the aerial aspect of the game. We had a lot of good chances and should have been 2 up by half time.

Don't know why we came out so poorly to the second half, concentration was low and skrtl + the greek is just not a working combo. To slow and to little intelligence. Agger going out was the key for me to not winning.

Kelly is really showing what he has to offer, RB for the rest of the season IMO.

Spearing did ok today, but it shows our lack of depth in the squad.

Kuyt' s first touch is still incredibly poor, how he manages to play such an advanced role with such a poor touch on the ball is still a mystery to me. I like his worth ethics, but a player on the RW he is not.

It is turning around for us, I believe that, but it takes some time. A couple of good signings, Kenny gets a few more games to get his starting line up in place and we will be in for a decent finish.

Not sure you can make that point so emphatically, given the difference between reserve football and first team.

Mellor absolutely ripped the reserves to ****, but wasnt good enough for the first team. So being good in the reserves doesnt mean someone will be good enough for the first team. Obviously, they might be good enough for the first team, but doing well in the reserves wouldnt be the reason why.

i have never met anyone who has taken a look at something over 18 months and that makes them a knee jerker.

                      Craig = kneejerker.

The truth probably lies somewhere between but as usual with football fans there is no shades of grey its only black and white

I think we need two quality attacking players (with pace a must)

We also need two really aggressive ball winners (one for the holding midfield and the other at centrehalf)

Thats an absolute MUST anyone else is a bonus

I'd be all for Maxi, Mehreles and Kuyt being squad men but starting week in, week out in such a demanding league as the Premiership? i dont think they have it in them.

Maxi's probably been our 2nd or 3rd best player this season.

i would agree with that. i think its possible over two windows. however we would still need to continue to invest in the squad. We have seen what happens when you fail to build you can go backwards pretty quickly.

I might add a full back to that

I actually reckon those 4 players are a must NOW

                              Not over two windows

Even if they are only short term they need to be brought in

Two questions with the same answer mate - because it's just my opinion

This same side, playing with confidence, will be worlds apart from what we are now. Not saying we dont need to freshen up the squad and strengthen, but i dont think we have as many as 6 regular first teamers who need to be shipped out. We could ship out a couple maybe and bring in 2 or 3.

To my mind, when i've seen players deliver the goods over a period of time, that tells me they are capable and good enough, because i've seen them prove it. For the same reason as why i knew, despite the ****e performances, that someone like Torres is plenty good enough.

Unless you're taking age being a problem or legs going, i think when players have proven it in the past, i consider poor form to be just that - form.
