Everton fan glassed in throat after Merseyside derbyAN EVERTON fan glassed in the throat after the Merseyside derby today told of how he had escaped death by inches.
The 30-year-old had emergency surgery for his injuries after he and two relatives were attacked by a group of men outside the 12th Man pub – formerly the Salisbury Arms – on Walton Breck Road in Anfield.
The victim told the ECHO: “It was just to the left of my Adam’s apple and they said if it had been across my throat I wouldn’t be here today, I’d be dead.”
The attack happened just three hours after the match finished in a 2 – 2 draw just 100 yards down the road.
The Everton fan from Walton was in the pub when a group of trouble-makers turned up outside.
He went out on the street to bring his six-year-old nephew, who was waiting outside with his mum, back into safety. But when he went outside with the boy’s dad and another uncle, the three were subjected to a vicious attack as the boy cowered in a doorway.
He added: “I’ve got seven stitches in my neck and throat and three under my chin. I just wanted to get my nephew inside to where he’d be safe and that’s what I did when I got up.”
Frightened customers, along with the boy’s mum, waited in the pub as the boy was carried back inside by his blood spattered uncle who had been gashed in the throat.
The traumatised child had seen his 34-year-old dad beaten to the floor, was covered in his uncle’s blood and had watched his other 22-year-old uncle battered with a bottle and pool cue.
His dad, a Liverpool FC fan who has a back condition that makes it difficult for him to walk, was left with bruises to his head and slashes to his hands.
The boy’s other uncle, an Everton supporter, believes the thugs may have attacked them on the mistaken belief they were Liverpool fans, as the pub is normally frequented by Reds.
He told the ECHO: “They got me with the bottle first and then they got me with the pool cue. The bottle cut my head open and then I got hit by the pool cue. I’ve got five stitches in the left side of my head. It was only when I shouted ‘I’m a Blue’ that they stopped.”
Today Merseyside police confirmed that officers were investigating the incident and appealed for witnesses.
A police spokesman said: “All three victims were taken to hospital by ambulance for treatment.
“The 22 and 32-year-old have since been discharged after having their injuries stitched. The 30-year-old, who is from the Anfield/Walton area is currently in hospital recovering from surgery to a neck wound.”
Detectives investigating the assaulting are appealing for anyone with information to call St Anne Street CID on 0151 777 4064 or Crimestoppers 0800 555 111.

This is what happens when lies get posted on facebook. You see loads of people on their Iphones etc. Posting messages on facebook day and night . The rumours were rife an Everton fan had been stabbed to death earlier in the day.
It only takes one cunt to make a story up, it gathers momentum, next thing you've got a bunch of bloodthirsty coked up dickheads looking for revenge for something that never really happened. These so called social networking sites have a lot to answer to.

Very true. Most people would realise that without a credible source the rumours are very likely to be complete bollocks. Unfortunately there are stupid people out there.
