Gerrard is going to be better in any midfield position than any of the players we have and in any role they might play. We all know this, it's one of Gerrard's many talents.Originally posted by Craig_H View PostI'm still not keen on Meireles playing off Torres. Put Gerrard there, and Raul alongside Lucas.
Given that, it's all about playing Meireles in his best position as it will strengthen our squad more so. I've said it time and time again about Stevie, he's not a player who will perform lesser in a different midfield position.
Something like this seems good enough.

He might not be in the same league as Xabi when it comes to passing, but his picked out some pretty nice passes in recent games. To say his passing is not very good is just plain wrong imho.Originally posted by JohnDoe View PostMeireless's strength is in his movement, but his passing isn't very good.

Its definetely better then it was a few weeks ago. But as you say John, his movement and stamina are certainly as good as it gets in our team. We probably needed his running in midfield vs Fulham because he really pushes himself all out, even if he only lasts 70 minutes sometimes its definetely worth it.96 Never Forgotten

- he clearly has an eye for the killer pass but still needs to realise (and cope with) that he isn't allowed the same time on the ball as in the Portuguese league
Another 96.000 reasons to honour Rafa
I just hope someone has a cunning plan

[QUOTE=Craig_H;1865961]In terms of their Liverpool careers, i'm not sure if Aquilani is in fact more clinical in front of goal. Meireles already looks more likely to score goals for us than Aquilani ever did IMO.
Regarding Meireles and 'stepping up', improving and potentially turning in performances to make you think again - it's because he is a good player, and always was.

From his first touch against scum it was obvious he was a proper player. Showed a confidence lacking in majority of our team. Bit like Xabi's first game (i think) actually, CL game it was, french side, we won and he looked different class.

Xabi's debut was Bolton away mate. Same game as Luis Garcia's debut.Originally posted by BG1973 View Post

He's very inconsistent, which makes him to be not very good at passing.Originally posted by banditos View PostHe might not be in the same league as Xabi when it comes to passing, but his picked out some pretty nice passes in recent games.
