Is it Worth Pushing on for Europa?

While we debate about where we will finish,it might be a good idea to discuss if its worth pushing on to win Europa...

If the CL is out of our reach would we want to finish 7th and push hard to maybe win a cup or finish 5th and put our efforts towards the league..?

Think Camolli said its now our Priority didnt he. I think the club will go all out for this. It would be a really nice boost and start to the FSG era

Yep definaltely the UEFA cup for me.

Weather we finish 5th or 7th dont really make a differance - they both give us a UEFA cup spot. Winning the UEFA cup this season would give the team real confidence, and something for us all to cheer.

I think 5th & 6th automatically qualify. Then if a top 4 team win the FA or carling cup then the extra places go to the league. I think!!

I'm not sure now - if you look at the tables on Sky text, there's a line beneath the top 4 and a further line under 5th which I thought equated to the CL and Eropa League places (hope I'm wrong!!)

Liverpool exist to win trophies, Rafa prioritised the CL and expect Kenny to do the same.

I think we should aim to get 6th and win the Europa League, as I said in the other thread I don't think it's unlikely that we can get 5th, I think we should be able to get 6th with out too much trouble, but winning a trophy would be a great boost

Edit: Also Kenny has never managed us in Europe has he? because we were banned for all his previous reign, so it would be great if he could get a European trophy in his first chance as Liverpool manager

From my understanding Arsenal just getting to the final will be enough there. Only the runners up in the FA Cup are giving a chance of euro football.

Most definitely. The rest of this season is about salvaging as much as we can and winning as many games as possible andthe only trophy left to u is a major part of that. I'll be gutted if we're knocked out of it.

If Birmingham win the Carling Cup they will get the Europa League place, meaning that it won't go to 6th place in the league, Arsenal have to win it for that to happen.

It's a source of income, how ever unfashionable the competition may be we need the revenue from the Europa League for wages and what not to push on further next season and beyond.
