i'd like to see aurelio kelly and johnson playing in the side together to try and get the ball wide and deliver it to carroll with some regularit, with suarez playing as in inside forward.

sometimes i like the midfield diamond, but i didn't go for it because i don't think our back four could cope. we're bad enough when other teams counter attack, switch play quickly or put high balls into the far post. having to do the same with our fullbacks even further up the field or trying to defend against 2 people is just too much to ask of them. wouldn't mind the diamond with at least one new fullback who can defend and a top class cb.

4 3 3 makes most sense with the players we have. Have Kuyt and Suarez as inside-forwards rather than hugging the touchline.

A pacey replacement for Kuyt and a left back in the summer would make that a very strong first 11. Possibly a replacement for Carra, although I'd like to see how Wilson gets on before seeing if we need to spend big.

We are going to be heavily reliant on our full-backs providing the width, as well as the delivery. It therefore makes sense to have Aurelio (when fit) at LB. If we could teach Johnson to defend, he'd be ideal at RB and then we need a patrolling DM.

Imagine Mascherano running wild infront of the defence, giving licence to a front five to get in and amongst folk.
