I've defended Ngog - he was a £1.5m signing that noone saw coming and for a young lad he did ok - he should never ever have been put into the position he was, basically 2nd choice to Torres and at times, long periods, he was are only striker
I always felt he should have been 3rd choice, with someone between him and torres.
As we look to move forward and improve though, we should look to get better than him - He hasn't come on as much as you'd hope but he hasn't exactly done anything wrong either - he tries, he is professional, he's not a cunt and if was to leave liverpoolwe'd get more than me paid for him and i'd wish him well wherever he went.
For me though - ngog falls into a similar catergory as our Centre backs.....it needs to be improved but it's not a priorty....
First things first - We have no first choice left back! We have no left winger, and we need a right winger too - get those positions sorted first!!! then next get rid of poulsen and strengthen the centre mid options
once that is sorted and only once that is sorted - should we be looking at selling ngog and buying a better '3rd striker'i own everton fans on the internet....that's what i do

Liverpool escaped Europa League exit at Anfield as Dirk Kuyt finally found the net with only minutes to spare against Sparta Prague. The approach and attitude from Liverpool was good, pass, move, go forward, attack the opposition at all times and the defence was comfortable with everything the Spartans had to throw them.
We looked fluid and lively from the off playing high-tempo attacking football without ever really threatening The Czech outfit. Sloppy play in midfield by Christian Poulson where he simply wasn't up to the pace of the game, losing possession several times, he played poorly and was replaqced by young Red Jay Spearing in the 2nd half.
But it was the poor performance of David Ngog that disturbed me most. The young Frenchman looked clueless throughout the match, failing to control the ball everythime he received it, failing to link up with team-mates and taking the ball of Joe Cole when he looked certain to score. A very average display by the young man.
However, Dirk Kuyt capped a hard-working performance by winning the match with a header on 83 mins to earn Liverpool a passage through to the last 16 of the Europa League. It is clear that we need a quality defensive midefielder and a replacement for Poulsen and Ngog in the Summer if we want to progress as a club.Me, I’m either planning a holiday or I’m on one.

I'd have brought on Erik Meier and Sean Dundee to replace him last night. Thought he was truly abysmal. We'd have been better off with ten men, at least then no-one would have ruined a move by passing to him.Originally posted by TheElephantMan View PostJovanovic?!
Nope, I rate them both equally - neither are anywhere near good enough for us. But when someone is having as bad a game as N'Gog was last night, you have to take them off. No-one could have done any worse. No-one.Originally posted by SB View PostI think that was his point. He rates Jova higher than Eggnog
Arguing someone should be subbed when having a nightmare doesn't mean that you autmoatically think the player coming on is better than him, just that sometimes you have to make a change.Last edited by calvoboy; 25-02-11, 11:50 AM.

He hasn't progressed enough lately, I sincerely believe he won't to the level required to be a success here. He's one of those players you will never fault for effort, works his socks off, but it never happens for him. Lacks the quality to be a success here, might do well for a team with less pressure to succeed. Are we winning?

Well actually, you normally make a sub because you think the other person can do better at the time IMO.

It's hard to criticise him to much tbh. He always gives 100% and makes the most of his albeit limited talent. It's not his fault he's found himself starting so many games over the last two seasons.
Compare to that Babel who strolled around with a face like a slapped arse & was a waste of god giving talent.
