Saw this quote again today and thought of youOriginally posted by Mattshark View PostIt is why context is important in to give a more rounded view with these. Stats alone don't show enough and are easily misused.
"I saw the statistics the other day from the Everton game and I've never in my Premier League career seen statistics as positive as they were in terms of passing, accuracy and tempo of passing, number of shots and crosses. Those statistics hearten you because you know you are not playing badly but they don't get you any points. We had the same level of passing and intensity against Blackburn but we were much more incisive, getting behind them down the flanks more. Jamie Carragher was bombing forward like Carlos Alberta of old. It was the right sort of performance; we've got to give another 29 like that and if we can do that then we won't go too far wrong."
Bob Paisley - "This club has been my life. I'd go out and sweep the street and be proud to do it for Liverpool if they asked me to."

Yeah lets face it, Roy was probably looking at the data from the wrong game. Also I'm probably better at maths than Roy.Originally posted by Lecter View PostSaw this quote again today and thought of you

To say the 4-1 was just counter-attacking does us a great disservice. We had more goal attempts than they did, which is not a normal indicator of counter-attacking. Two goals were fom set-pieces - a free-kick and a goal-kick - not counter-attacking play. We were also under no real goal pressure from them at any stage of the meatchOriginally posted by Drago View PostIt was a much better performance then that one. The 4-1 was a counter attacking master class. That today was pass and move football that the scum couldn't cope with.
